Well im replacing my head gasket and timing belt and need to know what brand of each I should get if Im after decent HP numbers (400+) I was looking into a MLS head gasket and I saw that Felpro has a new MLS Permatorque gasket. I dont know a better brand than an OEM timing belt if anyone could help it would be appreciated thanks

Don't get a Felpro gasket, they're garbage. I would say either go with an OEM Mitsu gasket or Cometic MLS. As for the timing belt, again, OEM Mitsu will do just fine.

You've never boosted a fel-pro gasket with arp head studs.

The felpro gasket with arp headstuds performs as well as a stock mitsu head gasket with arp head studs. They look identical down to the fire ring. I've taken more than 2 farther than I've taken a stock mitsu composite: 30+ psi with water injection and good high cylinder pressure cams. Not that a mitsu composite can't match that result. Both holdup to about the topend of what the v-trim shows on the compressor map. For that reason, I say don't bother with any MLS head gasket. And get the cheaper of the two: Fel-pro composit or mitsu composite with studs. Many have had great success with both at 400-500hp levels with proper head clamping.

My buddy uses a Felpro gasket with copper spray and ARPs. It's a 30psi gt35r'd daily driver. He's never had any problems with it and still to this day doesn't. But apparently they are garbage say's xdxoxuxgx.

I have also used them on all 3 of my cars. No problems here as well. I say go with the Felpro. :thumb:

I run a Felpro HG in my Talon. 35 PSI on E85 everyday of the week with SS O-ring in the head. I trap over 136 MPH at the track and I think it's the best gasket out there.

The Felpro is NOT INDESTRUCTIBLE!!! It will die if you give it too much timing or if you knock it away. I think of it as a great feature since it acts as a fuse for the motor. If something goes wrong I want the HG to blow, not the block.

Well, I havn't o-ringed my block and 4 out of 5 times my composite gasket let go. But this last time my rings burned up. I've learned that it's a safety but not 100% fail safe.

I really just don't like messing with perfecting head/block surfaces every time I'm in there for my level of build.
