Completed rebuild, started perfect. Let sit for a night and it jumped time. Did timing belt again and ran fine until i let it sit another day and went out to put timing cover on. Pulled crank pulley and noticed belt sagging from crank to oil pump pulleys. Touched it and crank spun back. Took belt off again and everything fell back into time luckily. Redid it again for the last time and drove it for a little bit and let it sit again and later that night sure enough was testing the tension from cam pulleys and spun again. Not sure what is causing this but im about to go crazy. I dont know if it is normal for the crank to want to rotate counter clockwise or what. Is it just that the tension is not right or is something wrong? Please any help will be greatly appreciated.

Assuming you put proper tension on it with the tensioner pulley, I'd suspect the hydraulic tensioner. Pull it out and check/replace it before it costs you a valve job.

Yup^^^ Yup^^^ Be sure that you are doing the tensioner properly! If done incorrectly it will yield the same results.

id be sure to use a new mitsu timing belt. not some cheap knock off. or if you did, theres about a 1 in 1 gazillion chance that you got a bum belt. but yeah im also leaning toward the hydraulic tensioner, did you buy a new one during the rebuild? also make sure the t-belt pulleys are properly tensioned too.

if that is all the problem is i will be happy. ive only done one timing belt before this one, how tight should the belt be throughout the tensioner/idler pulleys? thanks.

The tensioner sets it automatically. There is a very small window that the clearance between the tensioner body and tensioner arm must be in. I believe it's like 5/63" or something Check www.vfaq.com for details. You are a lucky bastard.

If it's like every other Mitsu tensioner, you have to tension it with the pulley tensioner before you take the pin out of the hydraulic tensioner.
The pin should be LOOSE in the hydraulic tensioner before you take it out.
You have to turn the pulley with two small allen wrenches (unless you have the tool).
It definately does not do it automatically.

And remember, ALL of the slack needs to be on the TENSIONER side of the belt before you put tension on the belt.

if thats all the problem is, im happy. i will do it one more time and see what happens. but yess i am a lucky bastard but im not an idiot and i know the consequences. the funny thing is, it would skip when i would mess with it after sitting, never while running. i just hope its normal for the crank to want to turn counterclockwise just a little while sitting. This is my first rebuild so im not sure if its a new motor symptom or what. with correct tension i should be fine hopefully.

The new tensioner should solve problem. I had to redo mine twice because I was the only one holding the tensioner and trying to tighten the tensioner bolt (not fun). Also just make sure as per vfaq that you wait I believe 10-15 minutes after you tighten the tensioner bolt to measure the rod distance protruding to get an accurate measurement.

Its much easier you just set the tensioner pulley upright and torque it down. Then go ahead and put the tensioner in place, bolt up the one bottom bolt loosely. Take a large flathead, and lift up on the tensioner pulley, push the tensioner forward and slip the top bolt in and tighten it down to spec. Go ahead and pull out the pin and your good to go.
Much easier than any other method IMO

Just make sure you check vfaq for the tensioner arm clearance before you put everything back together. If it's not within specs it's going to lead to more problems down the road. Also make sure when you check the clearance you have let the tensioner sit for I believe 15 min. so that the tensioner arm has had time to set if you don't then the measurement could be incorrect.
