I searched the topics for "Rebuild GT35R" but nothing turned up so I'm asking...

What does it take to rebuild a GT35R? I've read that the GT series can't exactly be rebuilt but that the cartridge would need replaced all together. Is this expensive, does it need sent in or is it something I could do? Anyone with some information about this please comment.

It's cool. Like I said maybe I'll pawn this off and look for something else. I've got a while before my engine goes in the car anyway :)

What do you guys know about the Holset BHT3B Turbo? The only thing I've been able to find say's this...

There are many variations of these turbos.
The one listed here is a BHT3B with a 26 open throat turbine housing,
74mm compressor inducer. This turbo matches up well with out HTB2 Street Stock
and our High Tech 71 Series Super Stock 62 turbo.

That turbo is so big 2.0 will never spool it!
I am a master borg warner distributor and wouldnt even put that on my car!
Yes they are cheap but designed for 8.0 Liter diesel engines!

just my $.02

Turbo

The HX40 is on a 8.3L Diesel yet people use them... So I was only curious about it. I know nothing about turbos, I don't know the difference between the "trim" sizes, and I can only go on what other members are saying is good or not. I come across a lot of turbos for sale everyday but I dont know one from the other. I know a 14b or t25 is smaller compared to a gt35r LOL but that's it.

Company's really dont rebuild ball bearing turbos for customer's anyway u have to get a CHRA its about $800-1000 for it really i would just buy another 35r with warranty for that price.

when i did my 50 trim rebuild,i had a bad bearing ,so i sent back to Precision company and let them rebuild the turbo,so they replaced the journal CHRA for 600 bucks.I asked how much it would be to change the BB CHRA,they said 910 bucks..... these BB CHRA's ain't cheap.

I've already determined that I'm not going to mess with the 35r, I'm looking at buying an HX40 but I came across an H1C and would like to know if it's any good, or what it's compared to.

The hx35 has a 52 lb/min compressor map that is more efficient at high boost than the 50-trim or 20g. The hx35 in the bolton housing has delivered 500whp and spools at the mid 3K range with 272 style cams and 2.0L. The hx35 flows a little more than the big h1c (most speculate around 2-3 lb/min) it has the same turbine wheel. The hy35 will spool faster than an hx35 but of course will choke out up top sooner because of the smaller turbine wheel. The hx40 in the bolton housing has delivered 650whp and spools in the very low 4K range with 272 style cams and 2.0L. Stock cams will see faster spool with both.

I got this information from dsm-onster. It is on the very first page of the holset thread pt.4.

Hmm, Sounds very good.

On my 2.3L Setup with my SBR VI head with Manley valve train (1mm os) , and B. Crower 280 cams will the HX40 spool a little quicker?
I'm looking to begin spooling around 3400-3800 and keep alive to about 8000.

Yes, it will spool around3400rpm or less with your stroker, but when you are going to hit full boost, I don't know. On the other hand 280's don't help the spool at all, at least on 2 liter. My motor is 2.0 liter and me redline is 8300 RPM, the car begs for more, but on 2.3 may be different. I don't know how high stroker motor will rev safely.
