buy new motor or rebuild

aiight, i did some searching and didnt find a good clear cut answer so im makin a new thread. my motor starts up but is in real bad shape, the tranny as well isnt good so im wonderin:

1) how much would it cost to do a engine/tranny rebuild (engine block is in ohk shape and the head could be replaced for 5 so take it from there)

2) how much would buying a stock 420a motor and tranny and having it put in

i cant figure out which way to go, let me know what you think thanks.

i had a rebuilt motor put in and it cost me $1500
if your good with motor i would put it in by my self i wish i would have done that

ya but im gonna need the tranny rebuild too, so im lookin at what, 2.5gs? sounds like their both gonna cost the same, which one would be more efficient

i would go with a rebuilt motor because if you are going for power trannys don't allways last I've gone through three

and about the price i paid $1500 that was for the motor and tranny install
