Ok so i have a 97 GST that i bought from a guy that put some stuff in to the motor includeing a motor swap or 2. so i as far as i know it has a 4g63t motor with a 6 bolt swap a lightend fly wheel, i am for sure it has a BIG 16G evo 3 ported, bec i put that on, it also has rims and exhaust not that it matters tho, but any way hears the story, i was driveing on the freeway at about 65 and down shifted with no problems, when i tryed to take off it felt as if i was at a stop sign and trying to take off in 3rd gear. so i checked gauges, nothing out of the norm, so i got off the exit and when i stoped shut the car off, and at the same time noticed it was over heating, so i poped the hood and the radiator hose from the radaitor was off and lots of steam.. well anyway it wouldent start after that. so i towed it home. i left the country for 2 months, 2 days later. and got home about a week ago. i than put new spark plugs and wires in it it turned over, it sounded like a wineing sound. and dident start. so i took it to the shop, the guy was kinda rude and just said that their was no compression. and i needed a new motor and that he could get me one for 5Gs LOL yea right. but anyway i just dont know what to do with it, should i tear it down and rebuild it with better, or go for a 700 dollor stock motor. i would rather rebuild it but idk how much it will be. anyadvice would be great..
sry if this was long or not ment to be in this section iam kinda new and still learnin and reading as much as i can. well thanks any help will be great..

It really does depend on how long you ran with it hot. With no coolant running through the system, a lot of stuff could go wrong... to the point where a rebuild would be out of the question. overheating can cause the block to crack or warp along with other parts. I personally would buy a different motor and go with that. Spend the extra money, though, and buy a newer motor. If you go the used route, try to find something with the miles as low as possible. That mechanic is a retard if he thinks he can charge $5000 for a different motor, because you can find prepped race short and longblocks for $2000-$4000. this situation would be my justification to go all out and tell the old lady that I'm just fixing it.

yea, i have a new machanic and he has a 91 awd talon, and it looks like he knows a lot, he said he could help me rebuild it. he said he said a stage 1 head, similar to that of bousher racing stage 1 head. and he would let me have it for $ 500. so idk i wanna just rebuild it bec it is a 6 bolt, but idk thanks for the input tho. i deff need to think a lot and research it.

Just make sure you give that block a GOOOOOOD once over. It won't ever be quite right if you have heat damage and you didn't catch it.
