Hey all,

I am looking to get my car going again after a long hiatus, it unfortunately got torn apart and some parts were stolen while it was in storage and I just lost interest in rebuilding after all that happened. I am looking to get it going again with the help of some good friends to be a really fun street car. It's a 2g awd 5speed with a stock bottom end 6bolt, upgraded headgasket, springs / retainers and mild cam. I think they were compcams but cant remember, I still have my mhi 16g but injectors and exhaust manifold were stolen so i'm going to need to grab those as well but am curious in the 10+ years of being away what most people would do here.

I have an opportunity to grab a rebuilt hx35 twinscroll with divded manifold, twin wgs and full exhaust for 1500. I will grab appropriate size injectors for whichever direction I go, and get dsmlink v3 and the car will be on e85. What would you guys reccomend here, stick with my 16g or do the holset hx35 setup? I had always thought about that turbo back when I had originally planned on building my car but being gone so long I don't know if its still a reccomended turbo these days, or if anything new came out that leaves the hx35 obsolete. It's only really going to be driven on nice days, weekend warrior type not a dd.

Thank you.

The HX35 is an awesome turbo. My son ran one in twinscroll fashion and the thing would spool early and run 30-35lbs easy. He had to upgrade to much bigger injectors and you will too on E85 but that is easy also.
Glad to have you back on the forum!!!!
Marty

Oh that's great to hear, I will definitely pick it up then, best part is it's a friend of a friend so no shady stuff going on. Yes, I think 2150 high Z is the plan then :) Thanks Marty I appreciate it!

Sure Mike. I think those injectors are what my son was running. I know it is what I run on both E85 cars of mine. Plenty of room for MORE FUEL!!!

Absolutely, I will go through everything just to be sure.

3000ish rpm with the twin scroll manifold on his auto car. It was awesome. I can't get my HX40 to spool that low, not even close.
His was a 95 TSI and ran mid 10's.

I need to ask. I am thinking he was up to almost 20. I will see if he can reply.
Message sent, hang tite ROFL , we will see if he has time to get back to me Curt.

Well Curt, the 2g motors do have more compression. I'm sure the important part here was he was on E85, I am SURE.
