Alot of dsm say 420a is only for daily drive only. I have a extra 420a motor and I decide to put engine stand and rebuild it with good quaitly parts. im going to use this engine to race most honda out there. I bet ya still going to disgree with me not to rebuild that motor for race. :hmm:

rebuild it how you want, not how others want. and do you have a question or just telling us your gonna rebuild?

well i just want some people opinion or comment something like "go ahead rebuild it, it will still have power to beat other honda." Or maybe they disgree like "no matter what 420a still going to break".

unfortunately unless you dump a lot of money into that motor you wont be beating many hondas N/A. Either boost it or plan on having it fully built running on MS

MS stand for?

Boost it mean put turbo kit on it?

Megasquirt, its very hard to make the 420a produce respectable HP numbers while remaining N/A. People have done it but it takes lots and lots of money and in the end you will have a car with somewhere around 175 whp.

If the motor needs a rebuild, then go for it. You can do some bolt on mods to give it some more pep and in the end you will have a pretty fun DD car. But dont think its going to be something super fast without dumping a good chunk of money in it.

Megasquirt is an aftermarket ECU that allows you to take control over the fuel and ignition timing of the motor. Stock cars are tuned pretty conservatively so some power can be mad but tuning a little more aggressive.

That not a problem. Of course i will rebuild it with good quaitly parts, but i will be fine to beat other honda right? that all I want to know

That's kind of a general question, will it beat honda's. IT will beat most stocks civic's from the factory, but there are some many different engine swaps for honda's it is hard to say. Honda's are really light so it doesn't take much power to make them pull pretty hard.

I say if your going to already put the money into it to build it, why not turbo it and make some pretty good power instead of working your ass of to get a 14 second n/a car? thats just me tho, some people like the challenge of making hp without forced induction so do whatever pleases you :thumb:

That what I like to hear. there is nothing wrong with 420a to rebuild it with good quaitly parts. Most likely i still can beat other honda if i go for it. Thank guy. One thing, when people say boost it on this 420a, is that mean put turbo kit on it?

So since you think you can do an engine rebuild, what kind of "quality parts" do you think you'll use. At this point I'm more worried for the car then you..

+1 ha!

I agree, with both sides of BOOST or N/A. It is whatever you want to do with your ride. If you plan on building a N/A, when I would go with a 2.2, if you want to boost it, then just stick with a 2.0L build and BOOM! Quality parts by many other people can be from OEM to BIG MONEY products, so you need to get a budget and/or do some research on it. After all is said, your opinion is what matters and that is it! :thumb:

By the way, you will need some power to eat some Honda ***. ROFL

I'm only worried that when you said your gonna build it you don't know what boost is..do you know how to torque everything properly and to buy new gaskets? you can dump a full n/a build and its still not gonna be that fast unless you change the cr and cams and do a port job. with that being said you can go that route or run a turbo system a small turbo at 5-8psi and it will be pretty quick, GL on the build though. oh and my built 420a on 19psi got pulled on by a honda..so learn which honda has which engine first before you try to run them

I dont know about Hondas by you but all the guys by me wit Hondas ALL are pushing 500+WHP soooo hondas CAN be pretty fast compared to our 420a's. So if you want to beat ''Hondas'' you will deff want to rebuild your motor with a turbo kit also(that is if your serious about making power) BUT it will cost you! remember you get what you pay for.

Define "beat Honda's" I have beaten many Honda's yet there are a lot I would lose to... Car brands in general dont run a certain time in the 1/4... Stock Honda's are relatively easy to beat if thats what you are referring to... well some of them, I wouldn't mess with a NSX

if you are planning on building for speed, 1st spend a little time doing a little research on what boost, and a turbo is. Also you will want to build a built motor upgraded fuel system, id recommend some supension work, a new clutch a quaffie lsd, and some serious tuning an then you will beat MOST and only most honda's my friend has a 483hp civic that pulls only my constantly and i have no shame in saying so,

im looking to rebuild my 420a myself ### it just went out of time and cracked a piston so now im looking to rebuild and prep for a decent turbo kit. i need recommendations for what type of pistons should i get and what other mods should i do while i rebuild.

Wherendo people get those funnel things for the turbo? Like devin has and like all hondas that dont run filters?

I would save your money and buy forged rods and pistons. then plan on turbo it. I say this because I have a n/a RSX with a k24 swap and this is becoming very common. So if you want to go cruse the strip Friday night you will need more power then a stock 420a to smoke many Hondas. Any cars for that matter. My stock 95 GS is good for dd only. :thumb:

Eagle Rods, and Wiseco Pistons, I can get you BNIB Wiseco's for $450 a set.
