Could this crack hot side be the reason my turbo doesn't hit full boost till almost 5500rpms

It's a 14B

And could this also cause the erratic idle and Dies sometime when clutch is pressed?
 
Yes bro major leak and killing your performance. Can you see the crack on the outside as well? Looks like a crazy huge hole! How does the manifold look? If the cracks not allowing the wastegate flapper to seal all the way. You will have a hard time building boost. Time to source a new turbine housing bro.

Manifold looks good the guy I bought the car had just put on a fp manifold so it's fine.
 
Is that how inside of a turbo should look like? It seems that there is a buildup of something on the inside. If that is indeed that then chances are that the turbine itself is also in a bad shape and at least needs to be cleaned up.
And yes, that crack does make a big difference.
 
I dunno about slowing spool to 5,500RPM. It seems like your wastegate would have to be completely open for it to be that slow. A crack that size would definitely slow it down, but I really don't think it'd make it THAT slow. I've run similarly cracked housings before.
 
No boost leak that is one of the first things I fixed
 
nah i dont see how it could possibly slow it that muh. i assume "full boost" is somewherr between 11 and 18lbs, both of which would normally hit in 3rd full throttle before 3500 rpm on a fairly healthy engine.
the erratic idle and death on clutch press (i assume you mean when shifting and then holding the clutch for an extended period of time, and not when sitting at idle) points to other air, fuel, or metering issues.

normally in this instance the first thing you check would be the wastegate flapper and arm, to see if it was being held open slightly. that would significantly retard boost onset. however you have since removed it so.. did you check before?

I'm willing to bet the flapper bushing has walked it's way out of the housing if there's that much lag....in addition to the cracks, that is.

I had a similar issue, shimmed the waste-gate, solved the lag. I had the turbo and o2 housing off, I marked the wastegate flapper arm and the casting next to it with a sharpy where it was closed, I added washers until it was on the mark.
