So found out that I have the evoIII 16g turbo. No boost leaks or exhaust leaks, no shaft play And still feels really sluggish and slow. I do not have a aftermarket boost gauge and the stock gauge in the cluster barely get half way up. No dtcs. What else could it be. What could I check?

Yes I used a smoke machine and smoked the entire system and found no leaks

No mbc. But I have Megan racing turbo back exhaust with no cat. Injen turbo inlet pipe and 3" maf adapter and cone. Adjustable bov. Aftermarket o2 housing. Also j pipe with aluminum smic piping

Hi,

The stock boost gauge wont go over half even if you were running 60 psi. It doesn't really measure boost.

You can check to see if the wastegate is holding,

When I ran an evolll I put a couple washers between the wastegate and the compressor cover to add extra tension to the arm.

Other than boost leaks, A wastegate issue can cause what you are experiencing.

You can try disconnecting the boost source from the wastegate to see if it feels any better, Just don't go crazy because it will not open that way, And you will way overboost. Just cap off the boost line and give it a go.

Which line do I do this too?

Wait the one line that is connected to the waste gate? Take it off and cap it and see if there is any change?

Yes, essentially you are bypassing the stock MBC. You should see the boost rise. If you see an increase in boost then the wastegate actuator is faulty.

And the waste gate actuator you mean the waste gate bolted the turbo needs to be changed or the valve that the line I crimp off goes to is bad. With the electrical connector?

And what if I do not see a difference in boost? Then what am I looking at?

Basically, Blocking boost from the actuator will allow the turbo to go full boost. If it does not build boost, The actuator may be sticking open. You can remove the wastegate arm from the turbine housing and see if the flapper moves freely.

Just to go back to basics here, Before we get ahead of ourselves,,, Did you do a boost leak test??

Yes I did so if it doesn't build boost while the line capped off ths actuator is the issue. What if it does build boost?

Cool, Missed that,
Yes the stock wastegate solenoid/mbc is the connection you just mentioned. Have you tried blocking the line off yet?

No not yet. I will be doing that after work tomorrow. But just to get this clear. While I cap that line off. If i notice a tremendous difference and build boost then I'm looking at the waste gate actuator issue? But if I do not notice a difference or boost then the mbc is what I'm looking at?
