So found out that I have the evoIII 16g turbo. No boost leaks or exhaust leaks, no shaft play And still feels really sluggish and slow. I do not have a aftermarket boost gauge and the stock gauge in the cluster barely get half way up. No dtcs. What else could it be. What could I check?

If you do notice a difference, The stock boost controller may be letting the wastegate open too soon, Wastegate solenoid stuck open...

If you notice no difference, The wastegate itself may be sticking open, Or leaking essentially. The next step would be to shim the wastegate actuator off the compressor cover with some washers, to increase the spring pressure.

Those are the only things that I can think of that would cause that to happen aside from a boost leak or vacuum leaks.

Ok awesome thanks guys. I will be trying this tomorrow. And I will get back to you guys with hopefully an correction for it.

If you have access to compressed air, You can blow air into the wastegate nipple to make sure it moves the arm

cool man, let us know for sure

Hope it works out! Keep us posted!

Ok guys I got the result. So I disconnected the line off the wastegate and pinched that line off. And what a difference that made. I had full boost by 2500-3000 rpms. So much boost that I was hitting fuel cut. So that being said my wastegate solenoid is bad. Where can I get one and any special make?

To be honest I never seen an aftermarket wastegate on a 16g. I would check the forum. Guys here have them pretty cheap.

Wait I'm confused now. I thought that when I pinched that line off and it made a difference that the wastegate solenoid with the electrical connector was the problem. At least that's what I was under the impression. So the wastegate actuator on the turbo is bad?

Is the stock boost controller the problem or the wastegate ?

I'm sorry you were saying the actuator was bad. You can get an adjustable MBC. There ate so many out there just take your pick. Just no eBay trash! Lol

Ok how do I eliminate the stock boost controller with the electrical connector and add a adjustable boost controller? What would I have to do with the stock one?

You can leave the stock one in and just remove the lines and cap the ports.T-off a pressure source from the manifold to the in side of the MBC and the out side to the wastegate actuator. You can also T-off from the bov line because that comes from the manifold as well.

Could I just remove those lines from the stock one and connect those right to the aftermarket mbc that I purchase?

I wouldn't. I have only done it the way I mentioned. You can try it but I can't guarantee that it work properly.

Ok I leave the stock one plugged in. Plug the ports. The top line that comes from the manifold I t-off that and also connect the wastegate line the the t. And that last spot on the t is where I put the aftermarket boost controller goes. Then the second line from the aftermarket boost controller goes to a t that I should install in the bov line? I think I got it right now. Haha. Let me know if it's wrong please

Get a manual boost controller, It just goes right in place of the wastegate solenoid. Glad that you figured it out.

So your saying those two line that go into the stock boost solenoid I can hook right up the the aftermarket boost controller and that will be the best way?

One of those lines comes from a boost source and the other goes to the wastegate, So basically you put the MBC in place of the stock solenoid. Whichever one you end up getting will have instructions as to which line goes where.

Ok perfect thanks man. I will do that
