Turbo Lag!

Hello everyone! I'm new to the board and new to the DSM scene. I have alot to learn and this board seems like a way cool place and helpful. I own a 95 talon TSi, had it for about 4 months. I've wanted a talon for a long time so when I found mine I was stoked and I bought it. I should of asked more questions when I bought it and after I bought it I couldn't get ahold of the guy to ask the questions. Anyway it has an aftermarket turbo that's to big for the engine so it doesn't run right and has horrible turbo lag. I'm not sure what turbo is on it, bad I know . I would like to know some things I can do to help with the turbo lag. I'm planning on getting bigger injectors, high performance spark plugs and wires, and a bigger blow off valve for now. Any help would be much appreciated, thanks!

WRONG.

The GT Concepts Evo III 16G's sold by Turbochargers.com have "Evo III GT" cast into the compressor cover. MHI turbos simply have "TD05H" on the cover.

If your Evo III 16G turbo has "Evo III", "DSM", or "Turbocharger" cast anywhere into the cover, it's not a MHI turbo.

Thanks so much for all the help guys. I really appreciate it! I'm so irritated with my car right now but I know I won't beable to stop driving it when it's running right. I don't have alot of money right now so I'm going to start out with adjusting the wastegate and getting a 1g bov. I don't know nearly enough to work on my car myself yet but my goal is to learn as much as I can and at least get to the point where I can work on the little things myself that need to be fixed.

Don't be nervous about working on your car, if theres something you know you cant do that would stop it from running then dont. Just look online for how to threads with pics they help a lot , good luck!

This site will provide you with walk thru's to do anything and everything. I did all the mods on my car myself. Turbo swap with a $30 tool set from auto zone and $130 worth of swap parts from extremepsi. Trust me, if I can do it... so can you.

You didn't fix the wastegate for her? My 2g BOV wouldn't let me boost anymore than 10 psi.

Didn't have a wrench on me. Plus she doesn't have a boost gauge either and me adjusting it is like raising the boost on an MBC blind.

Toni if you want I can help you with adjusting it. But if your BOV is bad it won't help anyways let me know.

If the exhaust manifold is leaking like she said, the turbo isnt going to spool like it should.

Well since I'm picking the fuel filter up from ya then yeah I'd appreciate it if you could. true, my bov is probably crap. I'm gettin the 1g bov from the guy on utdsm, can't remember his sn. I'm going to get a boost gauge as soon as possible.
