Im going to be running a 2.3 stroker with BSE and no oil squirters (NT block). I obviously have no idea what my "current" pressure is since the engine hasnt been run yet. Im thinking I need to port the top section a bit more (see the edited pic). Am I right or should this be good enough?

You could go more up top where the sealing ring in the piston is. You inky need to focus on the top and middle portion to allow the oil flow out. Prety much a bell shape is all you need.

Ok I lied I couldnt wait till tomorrow LOL-- I still have to blow all the flakes out but its pretty much done.

Ive seen some others like this but I just want to confirm its ok-- on the last pic, on the top (spring side) the port starts to go above the piston and can slightly expose the spring-- is that ok? I took a pic with light shining thru it to get a gist of what I'm talking about--

It'll be fine but you did not need to take any more material out down there. It doesn't matter that low down. You can take some out up top still on the ends if you wish. But over all you dont need to do anything else really. Clean it out and lube up the piston. Make sure you get rid of any burrs.

Ok cool thanks-- I'll probably leave it as is and just do the port mod no2 when my head comes in on Tuesday. I should be fine with burs-- I put my Dremel bit on low and then changed to a sandpaper bit on high.. felt around with my pinky and felt smooth

Thanks for the help!

You don't need to go too crazy- you're only opening up the hole which feeds oil back into the pan. You're still limited to what the hole at the sealing area (in front of the spring loaded relief valve) will allow.
