It's my first time. I tried to match it to a 7cm ss gasket.

Please comment, I know it isn't perfect but any one w/experience chime in. I need the help.

2g manifold, the runner divider wasn't touched:

I cleaned up the runners a tad bit on the 2g manifold. I also wanna know if I can port this:

And I haven't messed with the wastegate flapper part yet, but it's a 14b and was wondering if I should do it...

Imagine that, Uncle Bruce as an ENGLISH major. ROFL ROFL ROFL p.s., if he were, it he would have used COMMA'S in his statement. LOL

Romeen, awesome port job. What did you use to shine'r up? I generally hit it with a double cutt burr + tree stone bit to clean it. Usually if I want to go nuts I'll hit it with a low grit flapper wheel and then hand sand it with 280, 400 and then 600 (but that's pretty rare now-a-days since the extra step rarely does anything but look shiney.)

Here you can see how I took the lip off of the turbine inlet on my EVO III 16G. I also ported my compressor outlet but this is not nearly as important as working on the hot side of the turbo or even (arguably) necessary. Remember to keep all transitions as smooth as possible.

Thats really nice work. How many did you do before you got that good?

Thanks. After the carbide burr I touched it up with a sanding disc (the type used in cylinder head porting) but I used cross buffs for the final polish. These are great. They must be used with a light oil (I spray them with WD-40). They come in different coarseness so I hit it with medium then finish with fine. It's very quick and quite easy when using an air die grinder. Summit has them.

I had previously done an exhaust manifold and O2 housing but this was my first turbo. I guess there are times that my OCD pays off.:D

Need some confirmation on this one guys. This is a 2g 02 housing gasket on a 1g turbo housing. Do I port match the gasket? Even the turbo wheel side?

definitely match the o2 housing to the gasket so you dont have that lip sticking out causing turbulence. i wouldnt touch the turbine out let but i would match the wastegate outlet to the gasket. hope that helps.

thats what I said before.
yes you can port it. but do not go any further into the OUTLET than 1/2 - 3/4 of an inch. if you take away material too close to the turbine blades you will throw exhaust efficiancy out the window. look at the machV web site and search for the bullsyeye turbine housing to see what I mean. in fact hang on...

http://www.machv.com/motuho.html

there you can see what you want to replicate with your porting.
remeber that this will all be for nothing if you do not port your o2 housing all the way through to match. if you are going to take the time to port the o2 housing inlet to that size and to port the step off the o2 housing outlet, take the extra time and port THE WHOLE THING!

also while you are working in there, be sure to smooth the transition from the wastegate outlet on the turbine side to match the gasket too. just give it a slight radius to better match the o2 houseing.

almost too shiny but very pretty romeen! man I almost feel ashamed to say it but I have been able to do some pretty incredible things with a dremel tool and a reinforced cutting disc. I have a very very steady hand and alot of patience. I also have a diegrinder.

Here's a quick update, took that step out.

Oooh, that's nice! Big improvement over the last picture where you had that lip! And after having just finished up 3 hours of porting JUST the wastegate on my turbo and getting it to shine like that I, personally, am impressed. How do you hands feel after that? LOL. I went at it for like 4 hours straight and after awhile I couldn't even tell I was holding the dremel.ROFL :thumb:

Lol ^

My thumbs felt so numb afterwards. Went away after the shower.... man I got bits of metal all over my legs, inside my shoe, inside my sock! :p

Here's some better pics, I did the other side too, lmk how it looks:

Much better than your first pictures!

Hard to tell in the pictures, but you don't want the exhaust gas to have to make a sharp turn to get out the wastegate.

Also, a dremel with flapper wheel will make short work of smoothing out the bumps and imperfections left behind by the burr. Then if you're OCD like romeen or me, you can polish it (after all that work, I just *had* to make it shine).

Here are a couple of pics of my exhaust mani and turibine inlet (FPB28):

Wow! It looks like my port left a bumpy mess, but it's probably the light that gives off the illusion. It's really smooth thanks to the double cut flame bit I got.

Your port job looks really really nice, makes me feel like I have more work to do! Gj

stuff!

Kenamond you wouldn't happen to have a picture of more of a straight downward angle would you? In other words, looking straight down into the exhaust housing of the turbo?
