Started getting into macro photography, mainly shooting insects. Using a D40x body and the 18-55mm kit lens, just reversed and manually focusing it. I don't have a reversing ring either so I've got to hold the lens over the body to take the shot which sucks. I've had good results so far but the 1:1 macro 85mm lens is on its way, can't wait to see the photos I get with it and a diopter or two.

Finally got the brand new Macro lens and I had to go look for some bugs in the backyard. I got my hands on a Nikon 85mm F/3.5 VR Micro and with just a few photos under my belt with it I'm already impressed. Getting the bigger lens was worth it taking insect photos and the 1:1 capability is awesome.

Here's a shot of an assassin bug sitting in a oleander flower.

Can't wait to see what it can do on some bigger bugs with a diopter on it.

Thanks for the compliments.

Be glad you've never heard of an Assassin Bug before because if you had it means you probably didn't have a pleasing encounter with one. They have a "beak" that they stab into their prey and inject paralyzing saliva, problem is they also use it for self defense. If you accidentally step on one or come too close with your hand they'll get you and it kills a few cells from the area they stick you. You can see the beak curled up under the head.

The photos I took are of the bug in its nymph stage, before it grows wings. Here's a few more shots I took of the thing, it started looking pissed so I backed off. LOL

LOL

I do have health insurance but I'm not too pumped about getting that close to either of those things. We'll probably start seeing a few Black Widows in the next few months, I have YET to see a Scorpion though which is surprising. I'm pretty sure my first instinct will be to grab a big ass shoe when I see one though, not the camera.

Here's a cool one I just snapped this morning, right before my collie broke my flash.

Spider decided to jump right as the shutter released, lucky shot.

Still haven't gotten up close to anything TOO dangerous, haven't seen a black widow or scorpion yet either.

Nice pics of wildlife. Those could go into a NG magazine. Nabbed that spider in mid air.

And to share my skill of capturing just the right shot at the right time with my camera phone.....

Introducing who we call Miss 1978 here at work with the feathered hair, usually a pimpin shell necklace, cowboy boots, smells like brute cologne, and even has a couple Elvis jump suits that he has actually worn in public.

Snapped at just the right time :thumb:

My daughters toughness astounds me. She had to get an IV yesterday and she didn’t even flinch. Watched them do it and was more interested in the process than anything else.

I’ve seen grown men and body builders flinch and pull away/whine about IVs. Insane.

No one else posted but it’s a random thread so eat me.

Wonder if DSMs would be a bigger thing(on the level of Hondas in terms of popular) if the whole crankwalk myth wasn’t spread. Every single YouTube channel that gets a dsm talks incessantly about “herp derp muh crankwalk” and “gotta go six bolt because they NEVER CRANKWALK EVER”(which is BS. I had a 6 bolt auto car crankwalk. Verified with end play out of spec and everything).

And then when anything happens it’s immediately crankwalks fault(like throttl’s eclipse.) They assembled it poorly and it rod knocked so he immediately starts crying about how unreliable they are and how it’s crank walk only to measure end play and find it literally perfectly in spec and finds a problem with the rod bearings due to improper assembly. Legit wonder why it’s so hard for people to keep and maintain a proper dsm build that’s reliable. I’ve done it so it can’t be that hard?

Things I wonder sometimes.

Nah, if we are talking big picture the honda culture starts with them being extremely cheap price point and hand me down cars, factor in that they also sold as a 4 Door family sedan the market foot print for hondas was so much bigger that you always knew some one who had a honda civic growing up. They were never fast and never accepted as a part of the car community and even mocked for their attempts to be fast. I remember racing brand new integra type R's in highscool and them never being close in performance. Thats why they are so expensive now, its because they were so slow that no one but the most dedicated tattooed fanboy would buy.

The crank walk just weeds out the week. I think you can blame that for the current lower trend for resale in the market, but now even bringatrailer mint finds are bringing good money

Hopefully this doesn't constitute 7 years bad luck...
