Quick boost gauge installation question

So i was referring to this faq RRE VDO Boost Gauge Installation Instructions

Under 95-99' eclipse

and stated how you need to remove the double-ended hose connector on the bottom hose of the solenoid and install the tee in its place. But even in the picture there i see no double-ended hose connector or anything? Or do you just need to cut it?

Thank you, basically i was just wondering how you separate that hose to fit a T fitting on there.

All the installations i have seen were lower at the drivers side end of the fuel rail.

Tee boost gauge off fpr use the side leading into the intake! And yes cut it a few inches away from the solenoid and put your tee in and use the piece you cut we're needed.

You simply need to cut where the yellow circle is and insert your own plastic tee, then run your boost gauge vacuum line to the T. It's preferred to use rubber vacuum hose as opposed to the white nylon tubing that comes with most boost gauges because it can kink and crack with movement and time. Rubber hose will be much more durable, however you'll need to get a barbed fitting to attach to the back of your gauge to attach a rubber hose to it.

Yep I looked at the instructions too and it makes sense cut the line. Then reconnect them with the plastic tee. Then run the vacuum line from the engine bay to the boost gauge. I usually use 5/32" ID rubber vacuum line for this.

Id tee into bov line before the fuel pressure vac line........ You dont wanna tee into something that has direct affect to your fuel pressure. The bov line is great cause while in boost the vac line hooked to it is pushing the bov closed which leaves an accurate boost gauge reading on the other end of the line until the bov opens.

Teeing into the bov line isn't the best idea bro!! Is best to tee into the fpr line and leave the bov line alone!

I also have an autometer mechanical oil pressure gauge, the question for this one is that ive heard mechanical gauges may spray hot oil if connected improperly. Should i attempt and risk it by installing it myself since i haven't heard anything bad about the autometer gauges. Or shall i get it installed professionally?

If you plan to run the plastic tubing, just keep it away from sharp objects, or things that can potentially become hot. Mine blew out on a Sunday when I was camping. I had the tube run in close proximity to my heat blower switch, and on that day the blower switch decided to get red hot, and melt the tube. I guess I'm lucky it didn't start spraying flames at me, and that I found a store open to buy the parts I needed to fix it.

ya i ran myine from the intake manifold. ive seen people and myself use a few different hoses on there that you can tee in too

Does autometer seriously expect us to wire the lighting with this little wire? Or is the wiring on the dash super long?WTF

It's just a pigtail that gives you enough room to strip it and/or trim it a few times in case you mess up or need to remove and install it a few times. You're intended to use extra lengths of wire to attach it to.

Attaching a tee for a boost gauge to the FPR line will not affect the pressure the FPR sees because the boost gauge is a closed end to the system. The pressure at the end of the boost gauge is the same as the pressure at the FPR (at least, it's close enough for what we need). This is opposed to tapping, say, the BOV line for something like an MBC because most MBC's have very small intentional boost leaks built into them. This is why it's been found that it's best to leave the BOV line alone.
