My car has an Apexi Neo in it, its a freebie, so my main question is, do I leave it in or do I pull it and sell it? My car is a DD, stock injectors and T25 turbo, small front mount, 3 inch turbo back, basic minor mods, would I really benefit in any way from this performance wise? I just have a narrowband a/f for monitoring. My second question about it would be, can I use it to SAVE gas mileage? Can I trim back my fuel at cruise speed and low throttle to theoretically run lean and increase my fuel economy? Or is this thing pretty much only used for giving MORE fuel?

strange that it would be in there with stock injectors - is the fuel pump stock also? i wouldn't think that it would benefit you much unless you intend to do a bunch of upgrades - look me up if you ever sell it

I dont really plan on doing anything to be honest, its just a commute car for me, MAYBE something in the future, but not the near future for that matter. Whats it worth used anyways? Im assuming it works on Karman, since Ive toyed with it under that setting without any problems so far. I also have an HKS superAFR from my old toyota GTS that Ive considered using instead of this neo

At this point it is ok for your mods, you can even get some power out of it by lean it out a bit. These cars run very rich from the factory, and will benefit from having a decent tune, just if you do lean it out i suggest doing it with a wideband. If you later decide to throw a 16g on it, the AFC will still be beneficial to you, so just keep it.

A 16G on stock injectors, stock ECU, and a hotwired stock fuel pump sounds like a recipe for disaster. My goal is to get what I can out of the stock setup without spending much money, even if its 20 HP more than stock. Its no race car, and I don't really see a need to dump a whole lot of money into it. My HKS SAFR would be enough to lean or rich my fuel mixture, without all the flashy bells and whistles, and HUGE screen that the previous owner double side taped to the dash. That HKS fits neatly in the radio pocket.

Be very careful with the Neo. Initially there was a programming bug that resulted in a non-linear correction factor being applied to airflow changes with the Karmen sensor. Basically, you could do some serious damage to your car because of the coding errors.

Make sure yours has the Karmen compatibility on the back and the last 5 digits of the serial number are >13000. According to Apexi, they have corrected the programming bug in those units.

Once you've done that, you'll need to get a logger before making any changes to the Neo. The Neo can be used for both adding and removing fuel, indirectly.

Id actually like to get a logger, but don't know much about them, I have one for my buick that runs off a laptop, are the ones for DSM about the same or are they Palm operated? And that being said, what all can a logger do and monitor? ECU and TCU or just ECU? Id almost rather sell the NEO to get a logger instead, and go back to using my HKS instead, its more simple, and I know it works with karman.

Almost all DSMLoggers are Palm based. They allow you to interface with the ECU via the OBD-II port. With a 2g you can monitor and log these parameters:

Coolant Temp
Calculated Load
STFT (Short Term Fuel Trim)
LTFT (Long Term Fuel Trim)
RPM
Timing
Front O2 voltage
Rear O2 voltage
IAT (Intake Air Temperature)
Airflow
Throttle Position

My favorite used to be made by PocketLogger, but they have since discontinued the software. You can still find them floating around in the classified section. A logger will allow you to view and record any or all of the parameters I listed above. You can also read and clear CEL's. It does no tuning, so you need another device if you want to alter parameters.

Well if that's all that a logger does, I have an automative scanner that does all that, and it records data streams as well as clear check engine lights, and it gives details on codes that it pulls. I was under the impression data loggers did more than just read basic global OBD2 stuff.

I guess ill just stick with what I've got at this point. Dsmlink and eculink, all these programs get pretty expensive after you have your ECU socketed and all, I cant fathom that kind of money for a DD. I still think ill go back to my HKS, rather than make my motor go pop with a bad NEO mapped incorrectly for Karman.
