Hey guys I bought a 420a awhile back a guy was going to turbo but never did. I recently sold it and bought a 99 GST. The car came with a bunch of turbo things. One of them being this T3/T4 T04E .50a/r turbo. I was wondering would this be a nice upgrade to my stock t25 and if so could I run with stock fuel system safely? Until I get some money saved up. Or is it gonna be too laggy?

If you want to run that to4e 50 trim in it's efficiency range you're gonne need to updatre your fuel systel (even if you only wanna run 14-15 psi your stock stuff aint gonna hang) you're gonna need some 720cc injectors on pump gas (larger on e85) and at least 1 x walbro 255hp fuel pump

I ran a 57 trim for over 10 years (flows only 2 lb/min more than that 50 trim) and i ran 720's on pump gas and race gas safely to almost 30psi on race gas and just ran out of injector. On E85 I had to upgrade to 1000cc injectors and at 28-29psi and 12.5:1 AFR's i'm hitting baout 85% duty cycle (basically need biger injectors past that)

Also you will need some type of fuel management. An ApeXi SAFC is the bottom line cheapest but is only good for 550-660 injectors, but i've heard of people running E85 on 720 injectors with the SAFC and it's flaw of adding timing when pulling back a lot of fuel is actually a good thing. Overall i would suggest DSMlink for 90% of people, stand alone for the few that wanna get serious about what they are controlling

If you don't know what any of this stuff is search the hell out of the names/terms above (both here on the forum and on google) then read for a few days straight and yuou'll know what you want to do and where to get it the cheapest :D

Thanks alot man. Ill go with 750's, dsm link, the Wally 255 and the rest of the supporting mods. I'm not about going cheap I didn't wanna sound like that. I was told that the t04e is really no bigger then the t25 so I wanted to ask n see. When it comes to turbos idk what's bigger or smaller unless it's obvious I just never researched this t04e alot. But I do know what's right n wrong to do messing with the motor. Again thanks alot

I ran that same turbo except with a Dsm housing. I have 850s and was seeing about 75% IDC at 25 psi on Link. If you ever plan on going bigger, I'd move to 1100cc injectors.

Couldn't tell you. I just had a customer send me an eBay 20G for repair that was so blown the thrust collar wore entirely through the thrust plate. I've been doing rebuilds over seven years now and that is the first time I've ever seen anything like that happen. So all of that thrust material along with the seals which are missing are now in the oil pan, and I'm sure there are chunks of compressor wheel in the intercooler.

Lol that's why it's not going on my car LOL. So what is an actual t04e compared to? I'm not good with turbos. But would it be close to a 16g, 20g or what? And what would be a good turbo to safely get power out of with stock internals? I was thinking Evo 3 16g. But I'm open to ideas on turbos and injector sizes.

Yea. That's what I wanted was a Evo 3 16g. But like I said I had the t04e laying around from the other car I bought. But yea I got an MHI Evo 3 lined up with a header so I'll be getting that
