This is a question that i had for some time now. I know that they are much more aggressive than the 272s and because of it, along with valve float and all that. A set of stiffer springs and retainers are needed. My question is, why is it that tuning is a must when installing 280s.?? Isn't it enough to just reset and or increase the idle? I know that tuning should be done when a new upgrade is done. Why don't vendors also reccomend tuning for the 272s and 264s?? They are less agressive but still. And what happends if tuning is not done after the 280s are installed??
I'm not saying that I am going to install cams just yet. I want to be more educated on all this stuff before I go out an just buy random stuff. I have alos read many threads here and on dsm talk ragarding cam profiles and all that. But is seems that these are questions that haven't been discussed yet.

Thank you very much for sharing your knowledege.:thumb:

My buddy is running 280's on a 2.3 running the stock fuel system. He is running stock boost. So yes it can be done. But he has to run a real high idle. Remember your allowing the motor to bring in a lot more air when you add cams so some type of tuning is always a good idea. 280's are real aggressive, only reason to run them is if you have a stroker that will have a larger turbo or a 2.0 that is revving to 10k rpm.

Thanks JayRoja. Yeah, I know they are very aggressive. The thing is, sometimes is easier to find 280's at a lower price than finding 272s. Maybe because not alot of people really need them. Maybe sometime when my car is ready I might buy some 280s. I' would like to build my 2.0 for high reving. It seems to be that BC is the less aggressive 272 and 280 cams, when comparing them with web, HKS, DKS, CROWER etc.

thank you:thumb:
