Ok I've searched and haven't found an answer for my question.

Not to long ago I spun a bearing on my 96 talon tsi. So I quickly pulled that motor out and went on a hunt to get another 7 bolt due to the fact it was my DD.

I ended up picking up a JDM motor. I had it opened up and checked out also new oem timing belt and oil pump done with a few more better safe then sorry items.

The car runs great cant. Complain.

Ok finally the question?

On RRE websit they speak of different 7 bolt JDM motors.

"You have a 5% chance of getting a 91-93 RS version motor with the yellow bodied 510cc injectors and a Big 16G" Used Japanese 4G63 Motor and Trans Searching

The one I installed in my car had yellow top 510cc injectors. And the turbo blades were as follows one big on small.

RRE states that's an RS version 7 bolt. What are they refering to RS? Laser?

Just curious to see if anyone has info.

The yellow top injectors are the 510 cc injectors. As far as the turbo is concerned, there is a turbo identification thread on here (unfortunately I cannot link to it from tapatalk). As far as it being an "rs" engine, I do not believe that that refers to the Laser seeing as how it shared the same engine as the Talon and Eclipse. All the DSM's where assembled here in the states, the EVO's where assembled in Japan. That would lead me to believe a Lancer donated that engine. I may be mistaken.

Ok now that u cleared up the RS was an Evo. Well yes I searched Evo RS and the exact motor in my car is from an Evo RS 7 bolt
Witch would be an evo3 motor

Quoted from the RRE page you linked:

EVO Motors: The valve covers of the EVO 1-3 motors will be a kind of titanium color. They are the same as a US 2G motor with nothing fancy. They have the smaller 2G style intake ports, a small runner intake manifold with a larger plenum and a larger throttle body than a 2G motor. Still they are hard to find.

You might have gotten lucky if the compressor wheel blades look identical as he 16g ones are kinda paired instead of overlapped like cards. By wht you have explaine with the yello top 510cc, you just might have something there. Pics would help..

so yea i had to remove the 510cc injectors due to running rich i had posted in a different forum about running rich then i figured out it was due to the injectors.

so as of now i have oem 450cc but still have the yellow tops put aside.

but i will post pictures up with a powder coated valve cover today..

Not sure exactly what you want help with? The turbo by it's compressor cover numbers is an evo III 16g, and being the motor came with both that and the yellow top injectors it's pretty clear where the motor came from. Other then that it's your run of the mill 4g63 7 bolt as the internals weren't any different.

From a little research I found that the motor is 9:1 compression. With having the higher compression ratio does it effect the power ratio I will have and boost limit I can achieve or can I build it as I would have my regular 4g63. That's the only serious question I have regarding the evo3 slight higher compression motor?
