280 bc cams on stock springs

I bent valves on my galant vr4 the other day due to some idiot not knowing how to set timing. Im picking up a 1g STOCK head this week and really want to throw the bc 280 cams in it, but don"t know if it will work or be safe..Ill be reving to about 8250.. any input ??

You can't even rev the motor to 8250 on stock cams. With 280s they will be floating at 5000rpms but I say do it. But make sure to pick up another head too.

How about if I add evo8 springs and retainers?

Doubt the evo stuff will hold. We know you like to be cheap ### you bought BC in the first place. But..sometimes you MUST spend money and buy something good to support the parts you have. You MUST run a dual valvespring or beehive setup (and NOT Evo's).

The bc crap came out off the car I bought, not the choice I'd use but its there so why get rid of it? And I have duel valve springs but wanted to save them for a diffrent head and wanted to know if I can just throw in the evo8"s I had laying around in..

I"ve tooking stock heads to 8500..with a 272 cam though and everythings been fine.. 280"s is a rougher grind so I can"t say

evo's run a slighty higher cam from the factory compared to ours. I'd bet you can get close to your goal with the evo springs and retainers

How about contacting BC and see what they say about how much seat pressure and over the nose pressure those BC 280's require, then compare what they say to the EVO8 valvetrain specs?
