I've looked through the forums and can't find the answers that I'm looking for. What is the purpose of the external wastegate? And what do I need to run one? Is there a kit out there for this or do I have to piece one together myself? And is this just for if your going to run alot of boost? Any help would be great. Thanks.

Going by your profile, no you don't need one. Some turbo's don't have an option for an internal wastegate, so an external is the only option for boost control; others just run an external instead for (possibly) better boost control.

I put a wastegate actuator off a Dodge Cummins diesel on my 16G, and, with ECU-based boost control, I'm running about 28+ psi all the way up to top end on this little turbo.
