I would like a few opinions I read threads got an idea of what I'm looking for. I'm leaning more towards the pte 50 trim for my 350 whp goal I heard many good things about the power it makes but my concern is that, this being my daily driver and I read alot of post about the reliability of this turbo. I've read the 20G is proven, more reliable, and is compariable to the 50 trim. WHAT ARE YALL OPINIONS?

im trying not to spend money on a new wastegate and manifold if I dont have to. ;)

Yes. Incuding the turbine housing, I paid more for my small 16g alone than my holset with external gate and bolton housing. I got a deal on the turbo and the housing (used). So I would say that you can buy a 16g for $550 and you can get a holset setup for $600 or less.

The few that have used them have had good success. But there is the evo3 16g, tdo6sl 18g, td05h 18g, td05h 20g, BW s256, holset 54mm h1c, holset hx34, even the 50mm small h1c will meet your goal and spool just as fast. They are REALY cheap because cummins guys sell these to upgrade to the 54mm big h1c. They also sell them to upgrade to the hx35. They pretty much the outcast turbo of the cummins world :) . there are several ka24 turbo guys with over 350whp with the small h1c and at elast one with +400whp.

Point is. There's more out there even for the 450whp range than the ol' 20g or 50-trim choices. All these turbos can be had in the bolton flavor while achieving the same peak horsepower and spool faster.

Thanks alot bud.

I agree, maybe you should look around a bit more, the 50 you wont get much more than you can with the e316g but the 20g you can get more if you are planning to do a build soon with more than 350whp
The 50-trim is a 450+whp turbo and shows more flow on the compressor map than a 20g. The td05h 20g will definately NOT support what a 50-trim can do unless it is clipped to he!! and even then the lag will be so much worse. The td06 20g is a good even match to a 50 trim with the typical t31 turbine wheel and bolton housing.

The hx40 is more then what your looking for but it spools like a gt30 with the power of a gt35 supporting 600hp. Im picking one of these up right before i get home sense it will be the begining of summer. Stage 3 block/head + hx40 pro = no more combat pay.

20g laggier than 50 trim? Where the hell are you guys getting this info?

I used to have a 50 trim, i am now going td06h 20g. I loved my buddy's 1g with the td06h 20g, spooled mad quick and hit hard. He went mid 11s.

I said a td05h 20g with a good enough clip to make the most out of the compressor will be laggier than a 50trim with a t31wheel in a bolton housing. A clip drastically increases lag for only a little gain in peak flow. I drove arouns a "highly clipped" td05h 20g and my t31 60-1 spooled about the same. around 20psi by 4000rpms.

The td06 20g seams to spool about the same as the 50-trim cars I've been around. Full boost by 3800ish rpms

The hx40 is more then what your looking for but it spools like a gt30 with the power of a gt35 supporting 600hp. Im picking one of these up right before i get home sense it will be the begining of summer. Stage 3 block/head + hx40 pro = no more combat pay.
Yes, the gt3076r. Yes this is more than what the OP wants. I don't think he wants this much either. I think he would be happier with as fast a spoll as he can get considering his goal. Unless he wants potential for growth in the future. Which would be why he would want a 50-trim flowing compressor with a current goal of 350whp.

Thats why i suggested the hx35 first because thats more of what he is looking for. Spools close to a 16g with the power if not more of a 50 trim. Just explaining to him how bad ass holset is. :thumb:

Well. The holset results thread speaks for itself. I didn't want to spoon feed someone my personal opinion :) . A quick search in the turbo forum here will give you real world results for various holset combinations. And more will be coming VERY soon. . .

+1 bullseye .50 trim

-1 Bullseye FTL !!!

I have heard nothing but horror stories plus have had bad experiance myself. Only thing i would ever buy from them is there housing so would could mount either the borg warner or holset turbos. Theres alot better options out there for 50 trims if thats the route you want to go. Id check out PTE they have alot to chose from and for there prices you can pick up a good ball bearing set up.

?????

How is a Bullseye T3 hybrid 50-trim turbo any different than a Precision or Turbonetics unit? They're all built using the identical Garrett platform and turbine / compressor specs.

You basically just said "I've had nothing but bad luck with Eclipses....I'm done with them for good. Nothing but Talons and Lasers from now on."

My TDO6H-20g would be at full boost by 37-3800rpm and that was fast enough for me with lots of top end. I know the 16g has come a long way and I know there's more bang for the buck out there, but I would do it all again in a heart beat. I'm really looking at going with the FP 20g myself since FP's been turning out some incredible turbos lately. Good luck:thumb:

FYI, the 20g fp sells (6sl2) is smaller than a straight td06 20g. I was going to buy it but they broke it down to me from smallest to largest turbine wheel:

TD05
TD06-SL2
TD06
TD06H

okay I was told "20g and 50 trims are a thing of the past and the PTE 57 trim is where its at"LOL I was told this so im considering this as an option too now depending on the feedback i get.... 350-400whp what do yall think or thats too much turbo for my goal?

Talk to too many honda guys :) ? Just kidding. With the 4g63, the 57trim is laggier, is prone to surge, and it seams difficult just to reach the potential the compressor map shows. It's definately not better than the higher flowing 50-trim or 20g , for THIS motor with typical bolt on modifications.

okay I got my hands on a pte 50 trim dont know the condition of it yet but does anyone know where I can get a cartridge for it or is there any other catridges that might be interchangeable with that one?

You first need to determine what size the turbine wheel is....Stage 2 (common), or Stage 3 (most common).

Normally PTE will engrave the turbo's specs into the compressor outlet: 5027E would be a 50 trim compressor, Stage 2 turbine, "E" compressor cover; 5031E would be a 50 trim compressor, Stage 3 turbine, "E" compressor cover.

Call Precision and tell them you're looking for a CHRA for whatever turbo it is that you have.

+1 bullseye .50 trim

:thumb:. Have had the Bullseye T04B 50-trim on my setup for about 3 months now and really like it. Spool is ok although I need to tune that a little better but when it hits it hits hard. Have run an 11.68 1/4 mile with this turbo.

Just to stress, this turbo, plus a new intercooler & piping knocked off 0.4s off my 1/4 mile time compared to the previous small 16G/18B hybrid I had on before.

It's treating me very kindly so far.

Just curious....an 11.68 @ 113 w/ a 2.03 60-ft? Something about that run just doesn't seem right, unless all of the times posted weren't from the same pass.

After such a slow launch, I would've figured your trap speed to be around 120ish to run a mid 11.

Yeah, the 60ft times and 1/4 mile times are from different runs. Due to the nuances of doing drag racing in Okinawa, 60ft times and 1/4 mile times cannot be measured on the same run.
