I would like a few opinions I read threads got an idea of what I'm looking for. I'm leaning more towards the pte 50 trim for my 350 whp goal I heard many good things about the power it makes but my concern is that, this being my daily driver and I read alot of post about the reliability of this turbo. I've read the 20G is proven, more reliable, and is compariable to the 50 trim. WHAT ARE YALL OPINIONS?

im trying not to spend money on a new wastegate and manifold if I dont have to. ;)

Personally I would go with the PTE. I did alot of research on this turbo and it seemed pretty reliable to me. Everyone says it is a good street turbo. Don't quote me on this but I believe the 20g performs much better with an external wastegate and might be laggier than the PTE. If my car wasn't auto I would have gone with the PTE. I went with an 18g instead.

Okay thanks, being that Im fwd maybe laggier isnt so much a big deal to me. I was wondering also where can you get rebuild kits for a PTE 50 trim? or where do you send it off to to have them rebuild it? and maybe a estimate of a rebuild?

Most of the PTE turbos I've rebuilt lately use standard Garrett T3 parts with a 360* thrust plate.

I can rebuild it for you for a reasonable price as long as the wheels aren't damaged. Normal turnaround time is 1-2 days.

Pricing can vary; PM me for more info.

20g's are good if you dont mind a little bit of lag. There a great street turbo but must people consider them old school. Im a big fan of the holset turbos myself. Check out the hx35 that might be a good setup for you. :thumb:

If your goal is the 350whp range, why not run a big 16g? quicker spool and slightly better street manners, unless you are looking for the aftermarket turbo look I guess...you def wouldnt need a laggier 20g to create 350whp so why spend the money

I agree. There are other options out there. My holset turbo can be had for $150 on ebay with a good core, in need of a rebuild. And, directly swapped to my setup with no changes, it spools as fast as my 16g and flows as much as a 20g. I have logs to prove it.

The evo3 16g can reach your goal easily. Preferably a real MHI 16g. The FPt28/bigT28 can do this. The lag isn't an issue with FWD traction. The horsepower output at low speeds is. There's more than one way to lower the horsepower in lower gears other than having to wait for boost. There's always the accelerator pedal ;) .

Nice Spyder.

Thanks alot bud.

I agree, maybe you should look around a bit more, the 50 you wont get much more than you can with the e316g but the 20g you can get more if you are planning to do a build soon with more than 350whp

I have the sbr evo316G rated for 400whp, but realisticly speaking thats for a fully built motor and a great tune. I ran this turbo with my untuned safc stock motor and 20psi daily. I would say i was in the range of 300whp being that I ran even with LS1's from a 40 pull. but I recommend this turbo for awd cause 1st and 2nd just spins when you hit the gas.

Now that my cars been down due to a front seal leak some of the things I picked up is DSMLINK, PTE 880, cometic head gasket, ARP head studs, HKS 264/264, and all the other maintanence requirements.

Im sure my 16G can reach my goal with a great tune, but the last thing I want to do is be one of them people who tells others Im putting down 350whp then get on the dyno and really be pushing out only 300whp I'll be highly dissapointed :notgood: so I figured with a 50 trim or 20G it will help me reach my goal alot easier, and may be able to put out even more...

+1 Hoslset FTW !!! :thumb:

You can get them around the same price of an evo3 and they spool about the same. Although the hx35 will reach 550hp that doesnt mean you have to use the full power of it sense its a DD then later on you can crank that bad boy up with the right mods.
