2G Prothane Motor Mounts

Mine fit right in with a little bit of wiggling. I'm not happy with it though. I wish it was a full replacement like the driver and passenger side. I might end up getting some hard plastic and cutting new replacement mounts for the front and rear tranny mounts.

NO , just do it the easy way , get some 3m window weld , fill your motor mounts up (front and rear) and then push the inserts in , it is going to be solid and rock hard !!! YOu can use a vice to press them in and leave to dry. How is that for an idea?

I know I shouldn't bump threads but Im posting this because I know some were having issues with the rear mount insert and some were not.

The problem is that the inner rubber design groove/slot (where the inserts slides into) of NON-OEM rear mounts (like AutoZone or Rockauto.com) is different than the OEM mount.

They are different enough that the Energy Suspension insert will NOT fit onto the aftermarket mount but will fit onto the OEM mount.

This same thing happened to me and I was able to install the inserts when I ditched the brand new Rockauto.com mount I bought and just reused the OEM mount that I had taken off.

Do they make mounts for the front and rear for a 420a. Those inserts they make are shitty.

I'm having a similar issue. When I first got the car, I had bad engine mounts. I bought brand new OEM front and rear mounts from the dealer and installed Energy Suspension front and rear motor mount inserts.

I'm now upgrading to the Prothane motor mount kit. I got the transmission and driver side mount in fine since they are full replacements. The front one somewhat fits, but the rear is small just like the OP's problem. It's strange that the ES inserts fit perfectly, but the Prothanes don't. Part numbers match up with the Prothane website and I even bought another rear mount insert from a different vendor, and got the same part.

When comparing the ES to Prothane inserts, the ES is bigger and matches the gap for both mounts perfectly. The front Prothane fits with some force, but the rear Prothane insert is small and doesn't fit fully into the mount. When the ES insert is in, I can't move the center of the mount at all, but with the Prothane, I can wiggle the center around like there's no insert at all. Is that how it's supposed to be? I understand there will be a difference once mounted.

A little late to this but I recently had my motor rebuilt and had the Same problems, I ended up taking my rear prothane mount, turned it over so the insert part was facing up and put it on the edge of my bench and pushed down on it hard enough to spread it open a bit then hurried up and stuck it in my mount. Wasn't 100% but I'd say 90% of the way in there. More than enough to get my motor mount Around it.
