Those pistons and rods are Ballin' for sho!!! LOL

This shell looks and is a million times better then the last one!!! Looks like your headed in the right direction now!!

I hear ya. Well I'll just have to wait and see what it looks like and if I have to I'll adjust that neck. I didn't weld the fittings onto the rad yet(mainly because I haven't bought my rad yet LOL) so I might be able to have it welded to the rad on an angle facing toward the fander to help with the hose not kinking. I'm going with pro classic lines so they will have more give them SS too. Thanks for the heads up though :thumb:

Got my fx1 pro's in today :) The shell is SUPOSED to be here tomorrow but we'll see these shippers are killing me.

Looking good. How do the seats feel to you. Does the seating position feel a little high to you?

Hey now LOL. The last shell was good for a track car but I needed a do it all car. This is def that car.

As for the rods yeah they are beefy but hopefully it's not to much of a pita to get them to clear the block.

No not at all but I did not use the sliders that they sell you with the brackets which make the seat def higher. Maybe you want to throw around the idea of not using those because I saw the problem you were having in your build thread.

Did you use the factory sliders?

Your gonna have to machine the main caps, and shave down the side of the block at the bottom of the piston wall. Just bolt them to the crank just like you would regularly with the pistons and turn the crank. And when they are on their way up they will hit the bottom on the wall, RIGHT where the wall ends. Then just mark where it hits on each side. Then take a die grinder and shave it down till it dont hit. It sounds harder then it is.

And those rods are nice. Their just like BMEs. They are WAY better then grodens. I have BMEs and they look exactly like those. Those will hold more then grodens as well. :thumb:

I'm glad you broke that down but trust me I have done so much reading and talking to machine shops about techniques on how to get these to fit my head could explode LOL. In a nut shell though I will be doing what you said and your right it won't be that bad. I already wanted to grind a little bit where the girdle comes close to the block edges anyway so it's not like the block was going to go without alterations.

I agree nice. I'm sure you said before but how much did you pay for the shell?

Casey gave me a great deal on the shell. I picked it up for $2k but the killer was shipping was $900 from the west coast :banghead: Oh well still worth every penny now that she's here :hellyeah:

Wow I always wondered how much shipping would be for a car. Especialy from the west coast, not as many rust buckets over there.

Does the charge depend on the size or type of vehicle? How long did it take from the time they picked it up to when they dropped it off?

About a week and a half. As far as size I don't know. I would think any sport compact or regular size car would be the same but mine cost a little extra because it was non operational. They said industry standard was to charge from 100-150 more for non operational cars that can still roll and probably even more if it can't roll. I say this much I would do it again in a second. If you find a shell or car you really want no matter where it is and you can afford to add another 1k worst case onto the price of the car hop on it. My .02

Yeah Ive been thinking about it. You can find some gems on the other side of the country. But I was always weary of the price for shipment. It's something to think about in the future.

Everything is looking good buddy, keep it up!! You got a hell of a deal on that shell, nice!! I look forward to seeing everything continue to progress.

Thanks man I will be sure to keep the ball moving and keep the pictures coming :thumb:

Next on the list QM clutch :rocks:

The stock bumper wasn't gonna cut it for fmic flow so I busted out the 3" cutter and a trip to home depot later

I have RNRs and yes you have to machine some off of the main cap buy you do not have to touch the piston walls or anything else.

The HDs will require you to massage your oil squirters if you are running them to get them to clear and not end up in the pan.

Great job on the bumper. Looks like a machine did it. Good work.

After talking with the selle more seems like the guy tha originally setup the head was trying to build a 9.5sec auto car with 2.0 bottom end and the head porter(CHris I think from a companycalled advanced airflow engineering out of Michigan) had the cams custom ground do compliment the head porting. I don't know how much of this is true or if it will help me so I"ll just have to wait to get the cams in and see what I got. WHat makes me wonder is the seller said he had someone(a dm guy) check them out and the guy said that these cams were too big for his setup. I don't know anyone that would say 272's are too big for their setup.

Hey,
I am the one that traded cams with Sean, and thought that people might want to know how they are, I am very impressed with these mystery cams to say the least. Anyways, I did some more investigating about what the heck the cam grind was on these cams and it took a lot of digging. I called Comp Cams 4 times before I spoke with anyone that had a clue they made cams, but I got some insight. These cams were custom ground for Mike Licht (the Maf-t guy) and he designed them with them for a custom project. With a little more digging, I figured out that Mike had ordered these for a 9sec project he was involved in, but the car never really was put together and was parted out. Then I assume that the person that you bought the head and cams from was the guy that bought the parts from Mike for another 9sec hope, and sold again. Then you got them and we traded. :D

I have to say, out of all the cams I have used these things are insane! I have used BC 280's, BC 288's, HKS 280's, FP2's, FFWD KK2's (280+), and these Comps. The vac at a 1k idle is right about 13hg/in and they idle pretty well. They have a decent lump to them, but nothing too crazy. The drivablilty of them is great, but there is a slight "flat" spot about 3k that the car feels a bit sluggish but nothing that other big cams don't have. Now, as for the wot pulls.....OMG
I've never had a cam set that pulls like these do! I was reaching 20psi about 5200rpm with a 3575 and the 288's, and I am now reaching 20psi about 4800rpm with the Comp Cams. All that was changed was the cams, nothing else. Also, the power with the 288's up top was great, it started to flatten out about 7000rpm and drop the power about 20hp to 8500rpm on the dyno. The butt dyno also noticed the same while doing 3rd gear pulls. The Comp cams on the other hand made more torque, and more hp at the same psi (24psi) then the 288's. On the dyno, I was shocked when I saw where the peak hp was, it was at 8400rpm!! Peak Hp gain was roughly 23, but the gain was made from 6000rpm on. The curve of my dyno graph was smooth and kept rising till my tuner let off. According to the butt dyno, I am very pleased too, cause the gut feeling is intense and the power never stops all the way to 9k! For those of you wondering, I made 439whp and 326wtq with the 288's, and 462whp and 341wtq with the comp cams :hellyeah: That was on straight 92 octane pump gas and 24psi with moderate timing.

In short, the odd ball cams Sean traded me are nuts. I honestly expected lower performing cams since the specs are so much smaller. I was totally wrong though. I'm sure that you will take full advantage of the big 288 lobe profile in your drag car, but I am glad that we were able to trade. I enjoy the cams tremendously.

I wish you all the best luck with your 9sec build and look forward to seeing the results from you hard work. Take care.

Man that's great to hear!!! You have to keep in mind though that it's not always bigger is better. Those cams sound like they match your car a lot better than mine considering the hp levels and the goals that you said you were going for. My head is ported about as much as you can go befroe you slow down velocity and make it worse and more lift and duration is what will work good for my build but for yours it sounds like those cams are where it's at. :thumb:

Def looking forward to see what you do with some real gas and more boost

Edit: actually you made those numbers at 24psi LOL. Your actually not far off from my build and goals. Oh well haha

I think I started a FX1 seat chain, so far its me, superman, now you that have them. I would of made a great dealer if i was promoting these seats LOL.
