Problems after new Manifold

I purchased a manifold atmospheric 02 housing combo and installed it on my 95 TSI. The car was running fine before the swap. After the swap the car when idling will drop off randomly for a second and spudder. Under low throttle the car will run through gears, but under high throttle the car stumbles and makes a popping sound at about 3/4 boost. I have removed and redone all my IC piping checked all my pipes and hoses for leaks none. I put soapy water from the J pipe all the way to around the TB, no signs of leak. How can i tell the difference from a book leak or fuel cut? I orderes a MBC im going to try lowering the boost. I also very recently ran seafoam through the gas and IM then changed out the spark plugs. Under a side note the firing order and cylinder order is different from what the haynes manual i own says it should be, if i put it the Haynes way the car wont start just turn over then back fire heavily. so i guess my main questions are, How can i tell from boost leak or fuel cut? Is there anything else i should check for where boost is leaking? Could the sea foam cause maybe a low fuel levels or low octane and thats why it stumbles under hard acceleration?

It is a simple booost leak. Get yourself a tester and fix it.

What all did you take off to install the housing? Any chance you cracked the turbine housing or jammed your wastegate open on accident?

So i made my own boost leak tester. approxiamtely 30 dollars including the pump. It is making a hissing sound out of the firewall side of the Throttle body, i took it off cleaned it, cleaned the gaskets and put it back on still leaking. Should i get a new throttle body? Just a new gasket?

Can you pinpoint the exact spot on the throttle body where it is coming out? I would replace the gaskets not clean them. You could have a torn oring seal on the shaft and it is blowing air out the middle of the TB where the coil is attached. Check that out.

It sounds like your throttle body shaft seals are leaking. Its time to rip apart the throttle body and replace the seals. You should pressurize the system one more time and while the system is pressurized turn the throttle plate, or step on the gas pedal. If the hissing gets gets louder or softer its your TB shaft seals.


Click on intake and scroll down till you see, TB shaft seal replacement. Read up on that its actually not that hard at all, just takes little bit of time to do.

I had a leak where the actual throttle body attaches to the intake manifold and the gasket would flap after i let off the gas and make this funny whine. Wish i taped it. Anyway, we repaired the gasket, rtved it and it was rock solid.

You guys are awesome i have been working on this issue without ## guys help and it took me nearly 3 weeks to spend a bunch of money i didnt need to. I spend 5 minutes talking to you guys and i have found the problem. I replaced the TB gaskets on both sides, still leaked. I used gasket sealeant still leaked. So i took ## advise repressurized the system and sure enoguh when i touch or move the throttle assembly springs the hiss gets louder and stops at open throttle and holds pressure well. I am going to try and change my seals inside the throttle body like u mentioned. Thanx for all the great help and i will get back with some results
