i have a question i heard you can eliminate your power steering pump and still run on the same rack and pinion is that true and how do you do it (ive looked for an answer but couldnt find one ) and will there be any repercusions? thanx ;)

You can either eliminate it by just simply taking the belt off, or you can remove the whole system and loop the power steering lines together. Some people do it for horsepower reasons, some do it for wieght savings. Personally, that 3hp is less important than being able to turn the steering wheel without poping a blood vesel in my eye.

it will make it very hard to turn the wheel but you'll get used to it. you could just switch to a manual rack out of a 1.8 liter and steering won't be as tough. it also makes the car feel more responsive as you can feel the road better.

I removed the whole system and just left the PS rack and looped the lines. I will get a manual rack eventually. I love the feeling of no PS. Didnt do it for HP reasons but more to clean up the engine bay and mainly to make it easier to work on.
