hey I have a new labtop
Downloaded the latest update version of link
And keep getting errors
It won’t connect

Any advice Ive never experienced this before in all my years with link

Has happened to me a lot. I just change ports and sometimes reboot to get it to connect. Just my experiences. I have two laptops so they may have got confused on ports.

i also changed to all the ports i have and same result..
i can use a 2nd comp, but the whole reason i got a 2nd is due to its size and convenience for use in the car.

Have you looked on Ecm's wiki page? I haven't but it has to be a normal problem. I have had it happen and then just play around and suddenly it will connect to a port. It particularly does NOT like me using the same port that I program the SmartShift 100.1 TCU for some reason.

Yes I looked for answers
And wasn’t able to resolve anything.
I tried by playing around in the port settings .

Did you update the drivers as well as the latest version of link?

I assume you have tried updating the usb-to-serial driver via device manager? Sorry to hear that its fighting you. Just use a raspberry pi and touchscreen....

^^ that's fancy! Does it still have like radio , bluetooth etc etc? I have a pie but it's for retro gaming .

In the device manager I wasn’t able to replicate what ecm wiki suggest I should do to the COM ports.


Side note how did you accomplish your set up I have been wanting something similar for ages but finding a windows based tablet that fits in our din slot has been a pain.

I’m very unfamiliar with the raspberry hardware and I assume you use a android based tablet in junction ?

No tablet. 8" lcd, 5 finger touch driven by rpi 3b+ on OpenAuto Pro (Android Auto emulation like the fancy new 2019 cars). Includes 50Wx4 hi-fi amp, rotary encoder for volume/play/pause knob in place of cig lighter and "special functions" for the (unused) cruise control switches on the steering wheel. Also has google voice assistant using an Andrea Electronics noise cancelling microphone array for android functions such as gmaps, spotify, ytmusic etc.

Yep I understood very little, makes me wonder what I’ve been learning for years For this long ..


But I don’t really know what else to do .
