Hi guys new to this forum but not a complete noob to dsms. But this is the first time i ever had this problem with either of my dsms. Ok so i went and installed a cut off switch on my fuel pump. started the car up and everything was working fine. let it warm up drove to the carwash and while i was in line the battery light and brake light came on. on the ride home i got a little antsy and hit the throttle all the way in 3rd gear. Now after it hit full boost there was a loud clunking noise and the check engine light came on. also the car slowed down as this happened. i babied it home and have been afraid to move it since. Any ideas on what this could be? If so please help asap. Also i painted my valve cover and changed my pcv valve, and installed an stm dipstick on my car. i dont know if any of this corralates but please give me some suggestions on what to do.thanks for your time.

Is it a "PINGING" sound because if it is you could be running to lean. We need more information to give you a more accurate suggestion on what the problem could be.

Ok 3inch down pipe, 3inch thermal exhaust, godspeed manifold, hks tt, short shifter, fidanza clutch, upper intercooler piping, built motor, greddy bov.

The noise sounds like its coming from the bottom end. its more of like a loud clunk, really loud.

I agree it could be rod knock. Like ^ said remove your oil pan and check for metal shavings soon because you don't want those metal shavings to be fed to your turbo or damage your lifters.

Anyone else want to take a stab at this?

Yea i guess it could be.... i have to do an oil change soon anyways...its just weird that it would happen right after it put in that switch

Oh also it only does it full throttle at idle its fine..... would rod knock happen anytime the motor is running

only under load. balance shaft is removed

i think im just gonna pull the pan and take a look.

Ok drained the oil pulled the pan and theres no shavings in my pan or in the oil. What else could it be

If the CEL came on, get the code read. The ECU doesn't always detect a problem, but when it does, it's a free-bee hint to check out. If you have a logger, it'll read the code. Otherwise, Autozone will apparently read it for you for free. If you unplugged the battery since the code was thrown, it'll be cleared. If you haven't unplugged the battery, DON'T. Get the code read first.

Any time you get a CEL, get the code read.

Thanks. ive been trying to get this worked out all day today... the cel light blinked once and still hasnt come back on. can i still get it read? I dont have a logger so i cant use that. also my brake light and battery light came on and wont come off. searched on here and the general concensus is that its the alternator. i checked it out, there was a loose ground cable, i tightened it up but nothing changed. got the alternator tested and its fine as well. dont know where to go from there

Clunking on a 2g? Noooooooo. Check for crankshaft play. We all know what that could mean.
