I am interested in JE pistons I can get a complete set for 200 from a buddy (he bought the wrong ones for his 7 bolt) so the part # is 208487 they are 85.5mm and I am interested in the Eagle Rods Part# CRS5900MA3D. What kind of gains will be had if it were bored .20 over and had a compression ratio of 8.5:1 would my 4g be considered a 2.1 or 2.2? Is there an advantages of floating pistons or rod setup?:hmm:

I am asking beacuse the pins are pressed in the factory rods and aftermarket they have em floating, whats the perffered? What hp would I be able to handle with these rods and piston combo on stock crank stroke at 88mm. Sorry for all the questions. I wanna be able to handle 4-500 hp, eventually.

stock bore is 85mm
85.5mm is equal to 0.020 over
86mm is equal to 0.040 over correct?
stock rods pins are 21mm
.827 is equal to 21mm correct?
I asked just in case I wanted to use the factory rods with pistons.
( I know they need to be machined for that but its an option)

Any reviews about JE pistons and Eagle rods I wanna hear what you have to say and Thanks guys

You would see SLIGHTLY quicker spool, due to the ever so larger displacement, and a little more HP, due to the higher compression. You would technically have a 2.02L motor, if bored out to .020" over. Stock bore, our motors are 1.997L

Those rods have done 700whp before many times. It's all in the tuning. I don't think anyone has ever bent one of those rods from sheer HP levels. Poor tuning is usually the culprit that causes a rod to let go well before the strains of actual HP limits is achieved.

All correct.

There are several advantages to using the full-floating wrist pins. One is that they are much easier to assemble and disassemble. If you wanted to install them, you could do it with a pair of snap ring pliers. Another is that the wear is more evenly distributed along the piston, rod, and pin in a full-floating setup. The pin is free to rotate relative to the piston and connecting rod. The pin in a pressed setup is fixed to the rod so more wear is seen where the piston rotates relative to the pin.

Rods and pistons w/floating pins FTW.........It is then Thanks for the quick replys guys. Any other tips to consider in this build, other than check clearances?

What do you reccommend for the head? Its a stock auto head and if anyone has some manual 14b cams let me know.

before you buy the pistons from your friend, have him get them pressed off... there is a very good chance they will break, distort, crack from pressing off the rods....

ok.. thought they were used and had been hung on press fit rods...

Ok My engine build started, and the block is being sleeved due to the massive meld down. It is getting bored 20 over, resurfaced, hot tanked.

My cleaned stock 1g head deburred ported and semi polished

other will come into place like:
BSE kit
metal HG
ARP mains,head studds

What would this setups hp rating be with a good tune on a evo3 16g 255 and 560 safetly
