Just like the subject says. Would penzoil synchromesh works on fwd tranny, looking for GM synchromesh but no luck, need the car to run soon.

yeah, it'll work. Jack's recommends Redline MT90.

Asking the pro's and con's can turn into a huge discussion but if you search tranny fluid in the forums there are many threads on it. But it will work fine in my opinion the type of additives that each company varies and there are better oil's out there for a racing. But it's not gonna be anything you will notice if that's answers your question.
I'm running Lucas 80-90 synthetic and has been fine went with a slightly heavier oil for more H.P and racing conditions I'm not sure how many people run Lucas on our cars mainly Redline, GM syncromesh, Mitsubishi factory oil but very expensive in my opinion.

Since your in California, I would use Redline MT-90, price isn't too bad on it. Pennzoil Synchromesh is too slippery for a modified car. Up here in Michigan I use MT-85, but you have warmer temps down there. Good luck!

In my FWD dsm I changed from regular gear oil to penzoil synchromesh and it seemed to do wonders for shifting, but then I heard that it actually destroys our synchros and gears ( Jacks Transmissions LLC — Oil -- It states it after talking about the transfercase, so I'm not sure if they are talking about just the xfer case or the tranny too).

When I got my awd dsm I put redline mt-90 in the transmission and haven't looked back. A little pricey but definitely worth it imo.

thank's for all the replies, I bought the penzoil synchromesh, car is for dd and sometimes i race it. redline is too expensive right now. but i'll consider it probably in next 3 months or so, or once i get the funding.

Sounds about right ### in 3 months that thin fluid will need changin! Then you can run the redline mt90 for 100K miles and tell me which one is cheaper? :sneaky:

Cool thanks, what's the pros and cons
Do me a favor- go up to the search bar above. You'll see it- the bar is there all the time.

In the first box, type in "synchromesh", then change the third box to "thread titles only", and hit "search". Boom- 38 threads on this exact topic.
