This is not meant to offend anybody(hondas exempt)
But all you newbies please save our cars reputation.
These are not hondas we do not need big wings or body kits.
Our cars aerodynamics are more than fine to achieve fast times(look at the fastest dsm's)
Lately i have been seeing alot of this in our community.Pearsonally its annoying and downgrading. We are not the fast and the furious crowd body kits, wings, and neons do not make these cars perform better or is it furious.
So please dont mix your rice to our meat:) sorry!

This is where the "To each, his own" saying comes into play.

*EDIT: I forgot to add, Why would you take away from DSMs original body anyways, they look amazing as is...*

Amen to that!!!:thumb:

Personally I think our cars look better with a stock body and wing. But it goes farther than just the way you dress you car up, it is also about the way you drive it and show people that we are not the "Punk Racers" that alot of other racing communities are. For example: dont drive 50 miles and hour through a neighborhood where the speed limit is 25. It just pisses people off and makes them hate us DSMers even more. So just be respectful and if you have that racers adrenaline, take it to the track and put your money where your mouth is!!

What a pointless thread.

Everyone has there own style and what they like. So what does it matter to you? Thats the thing about customizing cars, its what you like and some people like to be different. So grow up and dont waste space on here.:thumb:

EDIT: the main car in the first fast and furious was an eclipse. Even though it wasnt a turbo but it was still an eclipse.

Which is sadly why so many 2Gs end up horribly riced out.

I wouldn't call this thread a waste of space... modifying the look of your car is a matter of taste, true. Some people have it. The rest put on giant wings, racing stripes, ridiculous body kits, ricockulously huge aftermarket tachs, and only push DSMs further into the 'import ricer' stereotype.

Want a ricey ass car with altezzas, underglow, a giant wing (especially on a FWD), and a monstro tach to try and scare off the people who have actually invested an equivalent sum on increasing the car's horsepower... buy a Honda. The rest of us are laughing at you. If you just want to impress people that don't know the first thing about cars, by all means shell out for that (unpainted) bodykit and pointlessly gigantic rims.

+1...it's not my thing but more power to those that like that type of stuf..

Awww man.. I just bought my "Super Ninja Combat Shogun Hyper Samurai" body kit and the 50ft of chasing Christmas lights I was going to hang off the headliner.

I agree with this thread. Lately around my way i have seen people putting RETARDED bodykits on their eclipses. I mean atleast make it look half decent.. i dont car what the RS/GS's look like but to destroy a GS-T or GSX makes me sick.. so many people have hard times finding these cars only to find people who have them make them look retarded and if u do get a bodykit atleast have the money to get it paint and paint to match not 4 different shades of gray.

Wow I didnt realize there were so many people that act like children in here. On top of it somebody with as much rep point as you. How much horsepower did you get by painting your rims? thats the thing, you did it to look good in your eyes and thats why people do bodykits etc, so it looks good to them. You dont need to drive it so dont worry about it.

I had to jump in on this. I agree with most of you. the stock looks are aweosme,1g or 2g. I also agree that if you are going to put a kit on it, do it nicely. I have had many compliments on my car, even from people that despise seeing bodykits on 1g's. I (not being prideful) thank I have accomplished a very nice car. I did it nicely though, the kit fits and it is not just slapped together. I just really hate how everyone talks so much about people with bodykits. I will be going back to the stock 1gb talon look next year. Its not because of what people think of my car, but it is because I am ready for something a little more simple. I have had the kit for quite a while now and I am ready for a change.

Just my .02
Anthony

I will say let you car do the talking, if you can run fast times it doesnt matter what your car looks like.

People do what they want and you should do what you want

Rep points have nothing to do with taste. Personally i agree with him. I think dsm's in kits is a waste of money and a DAMN waste of a good looking stock car. I don't consider wheels ricy, because those have been around for ages. And the true idea behind changing out rims is to get better brake cooling, lighter wheels, and better handling. I consider it a performance mod. Granted people go overboard even on rims (ie anything over 17").

I think kits are stupid, and honestly if you look around, the trend especially as of late seems to be to pick up a car, and immideatly hack it up and throw on a body kit. It serves no function other than looks. Because really, NONE of you are taking your kits THAT fast that you need the "aerodynamics". Speaking of which, i highly doubt any of these kits are even designed as functional aerodynamic additions anyway.

On the other hand of this though is if thats ALL you use the car for. If you're into show cars, or just cruising thats great, do what you want. But don't waste a good turbo car for it. Get an NA or honda.

My .02 and i don't care if anyone gets mad about it. God knows i've argued with enough honda's in town that they all hate me anyway.

No one can get mad at anyone for "personal taste" because it's just that, a personal opinion. If you like kits, great, just don't get all defensive adn pissed when someone calls you a ricer for it. If you are that big a whuss about it, make the car fast too and whoop their butts at the track. Just don't be whiny.

LOL, I have that same problem

My latest was this riced turbo civic. Running 10lbs on a t3/t4 with STOCK 240cc injectors, tuning with narrowband, no logger, stock internals. Body kit, horrible paint, fart can. Lets just say that didn't end well.

Sorry, back on topic. . .

Thats the thing, its your opinion. LT1 owners might look at you and say that putting money into your dsm is a waste of money why not get a v8? I have a turbo awd with a body kit and some other non performance additions but I also have some mods under my hood as well. Does this make me a ricer? No thats what I wanted to do with my money and I think it looks good. know this "ricer" your talking about is one who puts a wing on car and says its for downforce in a fwd car or a bodykit kit for aerodynamics to go faster. Not someone who puts a bodykit on to be different.

LOL, I had a turbo Civic hatch guy claiming his stuff was faster than any street DSM but when I tried to set up a race he wanted a 2car spot because "you got AWD" I don't get how they can't understand that if I gotta send you out then I have a faster car.

Which is what i said, if you read it right. If you put a kit on, also mod for performance. No problem with making your car look good. If it's done really well i don't mind a kit once in a while. BUT, make sure it's not hanging, make sure it's painted NICELY, and make sure you've got power to back it up too.

And lt1's can't say shit to me when i can beat them with the mods i have now. A fmic waiting to go in sitting on my floor, and whichever kind of fuel tuning i decide to try this time. Haha.

Sorry, it sounded like you were bashing on anyone with a bodykit or wing. That is exactly what I am talking about.

:thumb: I wasnt taking lt1 side, i was just making a point.

No i wasn't trying to bash ALL kits. Just those who claim they do anything other than looks, OR have nothing under the hood to back up a car that "looks good and looks fast", or have no idea that kits look much better not hanging off your car in primer or bare fiberglass/plastic.

I am most definitely not going to defend an over glorified ricer movie like F&F but it was turbo at least. I'm pretty sure Sport Compact Car got to test those rice burners, or maybe 2F2F cars, and they were all slower than stock!!! All that show, and no go.

I've got mixed emotions on the body kits issue. If your going to do it, at least paint it, don't leave it off-white or green. Leave your super samurai-combat crap to the Transformers though, Optimus Prime could use a few good bots. I wouldn't put a kit on my car because they always crack and I like the sleeper look. Personally, if people want to judge DSM's because of a growing number of ricers that opt for the show mods and leave a stock motor pushing 140k miles under the hood, that's fine with me. Their just all the more suprised when my stock body blows their doors off.

All go and no show, that's the way for me

The only way to save our cars reputation is to first look at ourselves. What are YOU/ME doing to maintain the reputation of the DSM's? It all begins and ends with our own personal cars.

This thread will end up getting closed regardless because this is such a touchy subject.

But really, in the end, we can't stop it. We can bi*** about it all day long, but it's not going to change the fact that it will happen. We can all just spout our opinions, further dividing our own community.

I'm not hating on anyone really, i just have great distaste for ignorance. If you want to do it, fine, just do it right and make it look clean. Make the parts flow, and have pride in your ride. The biggest problem with people is that everone gets so damn defensive. Then people get mad, and fights break out.
