Where did ya go and get the core anodized at im in VA or how is it done ?
thanks

What do you plan on doing when the IC gets all banged up from the road? How often are you going to recoat it... or will you just touch it up with regular paint?

its not coated. its anodized. the dye is part of the metal now. it wont flake or get dinged off. ill never have to worry about it looking like shit.

It will however get scratched and leave little bright aluminum lines, easily touched up tho. Looks good! :thumb:

I was thinking of throwing a fmic on my car, but I want it to be a sleeper as possible without some grille setup. I would appreciate some pics of 2gs with black paint/anodized fmics.

TIA

sorry to reply to a thread that is a month old...

how would anodizing affect the cooling capabilities of the ic?

almost nil. The reduction in performance from anodizing something such as an intercooler, or radiator is inmeasurable (is that a word? :p ). You would never notice a decrease in performance, and niether would your engine.

People have put a light coat of spray paint on the intercooler to make it black and there have been no effects.

what about spray paint or powder coating? :p

Heres pics of what I might be doing...

I wouldn't paint/anodize things like radiator or intercooler. They have a purpose(exchangeing heat)If the fins are restricted you can no longer do that effectively. IMO don't do it and save yourselff the heartache of having to replace things prematurely.

you can paint your fmic with minimal effects on what's it suppose to do. the thing is, the 2GB front just can't hide a fmic. the opening is just too big and even if you paint it black it's still mounted all way up to the front, you can still see it's not the radiator. your sleeper look will only work at night if that.

ill try and get pics of one of the cars at our shop in the next few days. I would say it works pretty well at hiding the fmic, the first day I saw it with painted fmic I thought they had removed the core to do some work. However in the middle of the day it won't really be too sleeperish. It will hide it enough to sneak up on someone before they realize what hit them.

both of those will decrease performance. paowder coating being really, really bad.

If you do 1 light coat of spray paint you wont notice any difference.

id be worried about it not really covering everything. ive spray painted aluminum before and it never seems to get completely covered on the first coat.

what i like to do is put just a realy light coat of construction paper with some crazy glue, maybe some glitter some noodles.. you know make it a real project... i havent got a power loss but maybe thats me?
