yeah, you need some black silicon couplers now too, the blue ones give it away.

im contemplating doing mine but leaving a :dsm: sign in the middle thats still the silver finish of the fmic. but then i heard painting the fmic could hurt the heat transfer ability of it, and in cali's hot summer, i need all the transfer i can get.

Look into getting it anodized, Thomas. I don't know if you can do the logo in the middle as you wish to using that method, but after seeing some paintball markers, I'd say anything is possible!

WHOA MAN WHATS WITH THE BIG RADIATOR haha just kidding, I will be doing this with my frontmount as soon as I get it in. Ofcourse most people around here don't know what and intercooler is in the first place, I won 50$ off of a guy trying to explain to him that the big silver thing on the front of the bus was an intercooler and not a radiator  some people just will never learn....

I've spoken to several shops about it and it seems a few light coats won't make any difference. You have to remember you're only painting the front of the core, and maybe 1/2 cm of the fins inward.

They sell that black paint that is specifically for radiators I'm sure that kind of stuff would do the same thing right? I don't see paint making that big of a difference.

Ive been searching over, and i havnt seen many pics of hidden or atempts to hide the intercooler....Black power coating..etc. Id love to see some pics of some. And sorry in advance if this is the wrong section to post about this.

DSM's are made for flex'in! And that's just what they'll do.... One of these days these DSM's are gonna flex all over you....

WTF

Sorry....

An intercooler isn't exactly something you want to hide. You want it out in open air so it can cool the air going to the intake. Hiding it will affect it's performance. There are a few people on here that have anodized there intercooler black to "hide" it so it looks more like a radiator than an intercooler. Problem being black LOVES heat and then it presents the problem of heatsoaking and then you don't have the cooling capabilities you should.

JRC FMIC's can be bought annodized, or any FMIC can have this done later. You could also add a grill, annodized or not.

Then don't post, You said straight out that you were wondering about PAINT or POWDERCOATING. I posted telling you DO NOT use PAINT or POWDERCOATING on the intercooler, For OBVIOUS reasons. If you want better answers, State your questions better.. Thanks.

Paint, and powdercoat is thick. Ever watch "American Chopper" and notice how much paint and powdercoat they have to remove when trying to re-install a part? Its a lot. Although it may not seem like a lot, you have to remember, the fins are very close together, and I'd bet that paint or powdercoat would possibly clog up the flowing area of the FMIC.

Now, I have seen a few people here on tuners that have just spraypainted the front of the FMIC and said it has worked fine, but they have no evidence, no proof that it did not hurt the flow at all of the FMIC, just just said it worked fine. They most likely had a huge FMIC and only pushed 14 psi so they weren't really pushing the FMIC anyways.

My advice is no, don't paint or powdercoat it. It may look cool, but it may hurt flow more than it benefits looks. Cops don't really care about FMIC's anyway around here, I don't think they even know what they are. Are you worried about cops, or possibly getting it stolen?

If you want better flow but for it not to show, look into a Supra Side Mount InterCooler upgrade. Its is great IC that flows alot better than the stockers.

Thats what I mean, or such as a big sidemount that u cant really see, or somthing like if you were driving a night u might not b able to nitce. Obviously a fmic is there and ## going to see it but not like your throwing shit inftount of it. Ive seen balck anodized intercoolers and mesh grill infrount and its a lot more descreet. ive also seen some lower mounted ones. Jesus this is why i dont post on here any more becuase people jump on ## nuts for wanting to see somthing that hasnt been done before.

Over reacting? I think so. Nobody was ripping on you, just giving advice.

OK I stated HIDDEN intercooler, not stating dirrectly to powder coating but ways of hidding it, not only are u illertirate but aperently you cant comprehend things that are told to you. Maybe its easier for other people to read then for others to restate there post to people over and over again.
