I recently did a fuel injectors replacement and ended up with a P0302 (cylinder #2 misfire) with all kinds of driving symptoms associated with single cylinder misfire (and possibly running on 3 cylinders).
Well today I went back to my old injectors and found the problem: A cracked O-ring where the injector #2 seats into the intake manifold. Most of the misfire vibrations are gone. The old injectors, though, are old (about 4-5 years) and bit dirty. The cold start on these injectors is a bit weak. I've got some injector cleaner in the system now and we'll see how that goes. But now the engine is basically running normally . The LTFT/STFT readings were high negative (-12.5 in ScanMaster, -17 in Torque) with the defective injector, and they're now going back to something that looks like normal.
My main question today though is, is P0302 a DTC code that will go away on its own?
If erasing the codes is the only way to get rid of the P0302 I'd like to know that. Right now the I/M monitors all show "ready" except for 1. If I clear the codes I'll have to start on that all over again.
Also I'm wondering if anyone has experience with these injectors (INP-0605) which are I'm pretty sure from a Chinese manufacturer. The ones I went back to are Nikki.
