Hey guys i have my 97 AWD Talon all apart to do a FMIC install and a few other things before it goes back together.

Well i contacted punishment racing about What i would need to modify to make their FMIC fit properly with an automatic tranny. They told me i would have to trim my UICP closest to the t/b elbow and bend my tranny dipstick a little bit as well. Upon mock up I noticed that what they told me to trim doesn't seem right... If I trim the side closest to the t/b elbow then it will make the coupler too short to reach the t/b elbow so i think What the sales rep told me about trimming the UICP was wrong, or at least was talking about the wrong part.

It seems as if i will need to trim my frame a little bit on the passenger side of the radiator support and that i will also need to cut the I/C piping that comes directly off the passenger side of the I/C core and use the elbow coupler they supplied for that connection?

Does anyone have any tips, advice or experience Installing this P.R. FMIC on a 2g auto?

All input and advise would be greatly appreciated!!

I haven't looked yet but i know there are people with autos and the P.R. FMIC out there, just haven't talked to them in person.

Thanks DsManiac! Links to other threads would be great.

I'm trying to get an idea of what Exactly I have to do before i start cutting and fabricating... Don't wanna mess sumthing up :nono:

Ok so far the closest I got besides the link above is I e mailed this fellow dsm'er on here from this link below:

http://www.dsmtuners.com/forums/newbie-forum/444230-helpp-problems-after-punishment-racing-fmic.html

If you read his first post he seemed to get installed but didn't provide how anywhere on the forums that I can find. But I PM'd him and asked him if he can share how he did it I would highly appreciate it and it would be helping out a fellow dsm'er that is attempting to do the same install on his 2g auto. So hopefully he responds fast and I can provide what he did. Hope this helps. Sorry for not posting anything of actual help but I am trying LOL.

It looks like the coupler coming from the ic could attatch to the upper if it was cut back a few inches.

Or you could always order a different degree piping. But it looks like just cutting should attach them together.

I had the same issue on my 97 eclipse auto. I had to fabricate a whole new setup for the cold side of the intercooler setup. I also went to a gm maf setup because the intercooler piping was in the way of were the stock maf and snorkel went.

I thought the same thing bud, Im pretty sure I can cut the I/C pipe that attaches to the core and use thw 90* coupler to attach it to thw UICP.

No worries DsManiac, I appreciate all the help with the links! If you Here back from the guy you PM'd about the install please let me know or have him PM me with guidance...

You guys have been great help so far!!

I believe I'll have to cut the "L" shaped pipe that comes off the I/C core to make it fit to the UICP.... Luckily the car will be apart for about another week so i should be able to get her all back together. It will jus take sum creativity and time to get it done :thumb:
