I have been doing my research to get ready for my 6 bolt build with a 2g head that I plan on swapping. Now up until this point I have been trying to do a full long block rebuild in one go. But after getting a quote from it I am second guessing what to do due to cost.
Also this car is meant to be a DD/Track Car just for my personal use, I am planning on running a e316g and looking for atleast 300whp after the head work is complete as well. Also this is a GST.
Now originally I was planning to run this:
2.0L
9:1 Comp Pistons .2 Over Weisco most likely.
Eagle Rods
6 Bolt crank Cut
ACL Bearings ARP Studs
Now due to being short on cash I plan on running a 2g Head with a 6 Bolt Bottom End and porting the 2g head eventually.
What I wanted to know as an option, if It is viable to put my stock 2g head with 162k miles on the 6 bolt thats freshly rebuilt?
Of course gaskets will be changed and cleaned but I am curious how far people have taken a stock head with high mileage.
Also any other options towards reliable pistons/rods that won't cost a fortune?
The main things I have been seeing lean more towards eagle rods and weisco pistons, I was looking into 2g pistons with 1g rods but after all the work they would run close to the same.
Any opinions towards the build or suggestions are appreciated.

For the short block build, Now I am a type of person that really gets paranoid over old parts.
