I'm going to build up a 6bolt nt block to replace my 7 bolt block for piece of mind.

What ought I expect to pay to have the oil squirter's bosses machined into the block?

Is the increased compression from the 2G piston worth the machining cost associated with the 1G big rods? I already have 1G big rods that have been reconditioned w/arp's installed.

If the consenses is that forged pistons do not need oil squirters, would it be even more cost effective to just buy some forged slugs, or would the 1G rods need to be bushed for those as well?

I was quoted $110 to modify the 1G rods to use the 2G pistons, but the shop was NOT interested in machining for the oil squirters.

My goals are 450whp with this setup, and daily driver reliability. My brain tells me that the 1G/2G combo would be best, but I'm not sure if the cost to modify the rods is worth the increased compression or not.

Thanks for your thoughts and opinions, I appreciate it greatly!

I'm not sure how much it should cost for the 1g rod 2g piston combo, but that seems a bit much.

That being said, I do believe that combo is well worth it. There is a very noticable difference between my buddy's 7.8:1 compression 6-bolt and stock 2g 8.5:1 compression. I even noticed a huge spoolup difference going from 8.5:1 to 9:1.

There have been many succesful builds running the 1g big rod/2g piston combo with no reported problems. Its cheaper than forged and it works great.
