Hey fellas,

Attatched is a few pulls on the way home from work tonight. Quite a bit of knock so I wasn't going through the entire band.

14b Turbo
1050cc inj.
GM MAF
21psi
93 oct

Right now my idle/cruise seems to be pretty spot on. The WOT tune however is just so so... I'm staying within 11.2-11.8 AFR throughout the band.

First - third gear feels good with little knock. However fourth gear almost always seems to get 4+ counts of knock.

I'm fairly sure this is to much boost for a 14b and I am heat soaking fourth gear. I'm on the way to the track tomorrow and am looking for a few suggestions or tips for my tune.

I plan on mixing a bit of 110 in the tank with the 93 to help with the knock on the upper end.

Please let me know if any other variables are needed to perfect my tune.

**Edit good 3-4 gear pulls at 450 seconds and on.**

Thanks a bunch,
Anoushir

Pushing that 14b to the maximum. I viewed the log and saw 20- 25 psi pulls. With anywhere from 15-22 peak timing at 97% throttle. I would venture to say you could pull timing, and that will eliminate knock. Or back the psi down a few and keep the timing curve. I've learned that from tuning my 20g.

Try it and re-log. And please clip the log next time you upload to specific spot. Don't need to see you warming your motor up :thumb:

I'm with him, if you want to keep the boost up then drop the timing down till you stop knocking.

I also agree with pulling timing although adding a bit of fuel could help quench it a bit. I didn't view your log tho since i am at work (no tuning program here). Good luck!!

Knock, Knock... Who's there? Seriously though stock 1g timing isn't meant for a 14b at higher boost.

I'm not sure why people away don't want to see anything but a pull in logs... There is A LOT more going on to look at people than just that, Op don't cut the logs down

. But definitely refrain from doing repeated pulls when you are seeing that much knock...

So he shouldn't clip idle time all the way to operating temperature? :hmm:

+1 There is the best advice you can get from the right person - MY1GDSM.

To each his own... . I see a lot of people that want to look at one thing. It's not difficult to just highlight what you want and/or cut it down if you want.

Me? I want to see everything the car is doing if I have a hand in it. May not be the case here. But hey just my take on things...

I agree, I actually enjoy longer logs to look at rather than shorter.

more data = better tune.

As far as the knock is concerned, I wouldn't be surprised if a higher octane mix won't nip that knock in the bud. 110 mix at those AFRS shouldn't see much knock.
Granted, the higher octane will also fudge with your fuel trims, but its easy to adjust. If the fuel doesnt help, pull a small amount of timing and boom, done.

To reduce your timing, I'd suggest dropping in one of the Evo 8 DA tables (either stock or mod1). Since you have the ability to tune with the DA tables in v3, they'll be a much better solution than using the sliders.

You've also got some MAF Comp tuning to take care of based on the pulls I looked at.

I'd also say you're getting closer to the 12:1 AFR during your pulls than the lower-mid 11's you mentioned. You might want to look into dropping in one of the Evo 8 fuel tables and modifying it to show your target AFR during your pulls.

Thanks for the quick replies guys... I will have to adjust the tune later tonight when I'm off work. As for knock count, I've read some guys allowing knock up to 7 degrees before they "worry". I check the plugs regularly for detonation.

I personably would rather have zero knock.

I'll adjust the tune and get back.

Ps track day was canceled. Going tomorrow.
