This is the oldest mention of the DSM's that I have...December 14, 1987. Wondering if anyone out there has something in print before this??? Enjoy...

Pretty awesome stuff! The DSM road racing is my favorite part of DSM history. The drag racing stuff definitely has it's place, but the road racing stuff is great. These cars really did well.

Road race is my favorite also. It is the whole approach I took to building up my Talon. Crazy rock solid predictable suspension, strong reliable brakes, wide rubber, keep temps down, raise the boost a little and drive like a bat out of hell lap after lap. For me thats where its at. My 14b talon just happened to do just fine at the drags.

Those are incredible, love them all. I dont know if they ever sold 25 of the Championship Edition Talon's. I saw one road raced but thats about it.

Cant seem to locate one of my binders with some goodies in it. Still have boxes tucked away from my last PCS(military move) so it may be in there.

Here is a few more things for now. EDM and JDM Dealer brochures. Notable differences, Internationally the 1G needed folding mirrors/Breakaway and they were heated(at least the ones I saw in Japan). EDM square tip exhaust. Amber signal indicators viewable from all 4 sides. Hence the orange corner tail lamps. Orange signal indicators on the front fenders. Additionally, to meet Japanese motor vehicle regulation the 1G's fog lamps are signal indicators(blinkers) and not fog lamps at all. Another funny note is that all 1Gs sold in Japan were Eclipse models and most guys rebadged them to Talons. Also swapping to the US spec mirrors and Tail lamps. Funny, Americans want JDM and the Japanese want USDM.

Great Stuff Phil!! I am still looking for a box from Japan with some stuff(I am sure you will be impressed). This may very well be the first mention in The states. Infact the 2WD H24S in the blurry "spy" photo at the beginning of the article is the oldest H24S in the Mitsubishi Motors of North America(MMNA) inventory. They still break it out for special occassions and promotional purposes. I saw it when they debutted the 2G that was the 1,ooo,ooo produced vehicle. Then again recently when the final Eclipse rolled off the line.

Anytime Guys

This is a great piece right here. Have some packed away somewhere.

Ah, i wonder if any of these are still around:hellyeah:

somebody find those steering wheels!

You know, it's hard to say. I've never personally seen one. Only in pics. However, the Pacific Body Kit was available by itself....but, still, I've never seen a car with one except in pics. Killer looking cars though. And, that steering wheel is pretty nice.

Glad you like! I remember you mentioning the "Championship Edition" Archer car and so I went searching for those! Killer stuff you just posted up. Looks like a pic from the MOD?? I'd love to go to that someday. Killer Eclipse Vert in the backround. Now, I'm not questioning your knowledge at all, because you certainly have a great one.....but, the blurry shot in the article I posted shows a car with front lip, side skirts, and what appears to be a rear wing. The car in your pic appears to be a "GS" model NA car. Just an observation. Keep it coming! I'm learning alot! Never knew the cars were dubbed H24S either.....

So, here's a few for today, enjoy!

Your right Phil. I was looking at your post late last night and was crazy exhausted. Because as soon as I saw the blurry shot I instantly thought of the Champagne H24S I have seen from time to time. But the the one in the "spyshot" in your article does indeed have a kit. These photos were at a Mitsu Owner Day. The convertible Eclipse in the background is the same one as I put up in post #27 of this thread.
If you notice in the window of that Convertible they also call it an H24S convertible concept. The Champagne H24S I just posted can also be seen beside the convertible concept in post #27. Here is a couple for now, until I find some more of my stuff.

Is this pic of eclipse on back of VHS just a commercial or is it content of this video cassete? Is there a video?:)

One more pic from 28th Tokyo Motor Show held in 1989.

Cool! That's wild. If you cannot find this, I think I have a few packed away that are still intact. I'll send you one early next year when I unpack. How's that?

Thanks for clerifying Jose! Either way that stuff is incredible!

Oh, and I did try getting through to that warehouse in Detroit. The only number that I found that would get me through was to a security line and the guy would not give out ANY info whatsoever. He kept repeating, "this is a security line only." He sounded like robot. So, then I spent 30 minutes online with Chrysler customer servcice trying to get some info, only to be given a website(that didn't work) that supposedly outlines Chryslers shows, etc. That was a dead end. So, I found the Chrysler Museum site, and sent an email about the DSMs to them.....and no return email yet. I have a pic of the Archer Brothers' race Commanche from that museum(Walter P. Chrysler) so I know that they have dabbled with cool stuff in the past. So, still nothing solid, but wanted to let everyone here know I did spend some time trying.

A few shots this morning:
1. One lap article
2. Archer Championship Edition? No BBS's But, has the Pacific body kit
3. Another one of my favorite rally shots. Vermont Sportscar

:D

You're unpacking too, eh? I think I'm finally making the trip back to my house that will produce a scanner for the stuff I have. Let me know if you are interested in any digital or physical copies of anything that I have. I might just run over to Costco or something and get them to make some good copies at the photo center.

Well, actually, I'm packing now....we sold our house and are moving to a new one at the end of January/early Feb. So, I'll be unpacking at some point after that. Most of my DSM stuff is in storage already. However, my binders and other small stuff is still accessable. But, soon, it will all be packed, that's why I've tried to put as much up now as possible because I won't be able to contribute for a month or two soon. You definitely have some stuff I'd like copies of.....I'll run back through the thread as soon as I can and give you the list.....and thanks!

Ah, I gotcha. I'm just finishing up a move so I probably have more left to find LOL

Assuming the transaction isn't bunk for any reason I just bought a copy of the Dec 14 1987 Autoweek. I can't wait for it to show up! I had no idea there would be any Talon articles dating back that far!

I had a crazy month of December, so I am just reading this thread. Awesome info! The cover of 99 shootout video has my car on it! I have all of the early videos, I will have dig them up. Unfortunately, one or two years were lost because the guy who took the footage never produced the videos :(.

Awesome! Yeah I was shocked to find it as well.....and then it's a light yellow Talon with anthracite ground effects and Laser mesh wheels to boot! I've been searching for memorabilia for a solid 8 years. Much of what I have was drawn from my own collection of about 3,000 magazines. But, of course, there's always new stuff out there to find. I'll have some nice stuff to toss up once I get settled in. I've only scratched the surface:rocks:

And, if not my favorite, one of my favorite dsm road race pics. You can see one of Paul Rossi's Talons(blue bumper cover) at the low spot in the esses.....Road Atlanta:

Those two pictured are just ads. But I do have a couple Japanese Car show videos that have reviews of the Eclipse. I will have to vidcapture them. I will attach a screen shot.
