Yup, look wild, but were functional. They are the old school Ronal "Turbo" wheels. I dare to say 1st Generation wheels, beacuse they were not embossed with the Ronal name. There were a couple of variants I remember seeing back in the day. But because of the integrated vane design they pulled in air to cool the brakes. If I am not mistaken I think they eventually got banned.

If you look on the cars they have a Ronal sponsor sticker.

had some better pictures and the wheels do have the Ronal Turbo stamp, so probably Gen 2 wheels.

Are they designed for less sidewall flex too?

Not sure on that one? I just know turbo/fan wheels were the "IT" wheel for a while there. The Audi's and Porshe's ran them almost always during IMSA races late 80's early 90's. And alot of makers made their own variants, OZ, Racing Hart just to name a few. You could even buy seperate veined/fanned/turbo covers that would bolt to your existing wheels to aid with brake cooling during racing.

The rarest thing I have is a dinner plate from the grand opening dinner held November 10, 1988. I sent it out to some of the most well known DSMers and had it signed.

That plate is interesting. I have a plate very similar to that from 2009 commemorating the 3 Millionth vehicle produced.

MindBlowin03, how did you get your plate?

here is a pic of the 3millionth plate.

I tried looking for some of my original DSM uniform shirts like the ones in the post w the inner hood structure. They are worn out n long gone. I had a hard hat w DSM logo too. Gone over the years

Awesome plate. Cool to know some were held on to and not just tossed. History right there. Thanks for the contribution.

You are full of interesting info. You are a gent and a scholar.
Thanks, just been around the block a few times.

The modern ones are cool. But the old school ones are just Gangster. The guys who raced with them most of the time had the 3 piece version(like Wolin's Eclipse) and they came in crazy widths. The fattest I think I ever saw was a 13J.
I'll attach a bunch of random "Turbo" wheel pics and some of the cars they came stock on in the day. They have even been making a comback in some circles. So guys have been hunting down some classics and restoring them.

And for today, a few pics of the Woodstock Motorsports Eclipses. These cars ran in the IMSA Firestone Firehawk Series and definitely got noticed. Enjoy!

Few more pictures of the Woodstock cars and a scanned clipping of when Mitsubishi joined the World Wide Web as well as an interesting article on the Archer Brothers switching from the Talon business to the NASCAR truck series.

Couple more pics for today. These are the Japanese manuals for the 1G's in Japan. Cool thing to note is that this one is for a 1993-1994 car, as annotated on the cover and the car depicted is a 1Ga. The 1Gb never made it across the pond when they were new.

Cool to see a manual from a '93-94 in Japanese. Notice, the D22A, D27A; what was the D22A? D27A is the first part of the VIN on my '90 GSR-4.

Here are my manuals.

cool to see your manuals.

The D22A was for a 1G, FWD 2.0 NA or Turbo
The D27A was for a 1G, AWD 2.0 Turbo

Just scanned something else for today. This was an invoice for my first major job on the car not covered under warranty. Kind of wild because the house that I lived in on base back then does not even exist anymore. It is just a big open field now. But now you know why I had my relationship with the Archer guys back then. Duluth was not so far away.

Here is a picture of the Vehicle Emissions Control Information Label under the hood of a 1G sold as an export to Japan.

Whats cool to note is it still has the idle rpm and the BTDC as the U.S. labels do. However, since it was a U.S. market car it has to have the actual emissions test results listed. Which in the case of our 1G if you look at the bottom of the label you will see that at idle the Carbon Monoxide emitted was 0.6% and the HydroCarbons emitted was 300 parts per million at idle.

At the top of the label it justs states that the gas emissions test was conducted utilizing the 10-15 mode cycle method. Which is the Japanese standard.

Also at the very bottom next to the DSM logo, it reads Diamond Star Motors Corporation.

Also cool to see a Mitsubishi Part number listed for the label.

Dont know how many of these are left kicking around but I thought I'd post it anyways and maybe contribute a little. Found the original manual and service booklets in the original case for my eclipse. Kinda makes me sad that its going to be stripped and cut down but its cant be helped.

I have been looking around and found a couple more items. A hard hat and the original employee's logo jacket.

BTW, May 1st is my 23rd year anniversary with the company. I was in the 1st group hired for second shift. Sorry to say there hasn't been a second shift for seven years or so.
Alot of people have came and gone and alot things have happened over the years. In June, the end of Galant production. Full production begins for the Outlander Sport.
