I bought a new oem oil pump, new oem oil pump bolt kit and bse. I'm just waiting for the machine shop to finish working my block and polish my crankshaft. Before I start, my question is what should I use for the oil pump bolts? Grey rtv, lock tite or other stuff? Let me know what you recommend. I'll be using copper spray this time for most of my gasket since ive read that it did help seal better.

With my Last build I had problems with the oil pump leaking in several places do to cheap paper gasket and improper front case bolt torquing.

Odd, I am at the exact same stage in my build as you are.

You shouldn't need lok tite on the oil pump bolts, but it doesn't hurt. Just make sure to torque them to spec.

I'll be using the shorter bolt method to replace the balance shaft tensioner. Do I put rtv around the hole itself and/or on the thread of the bolt?

Also, for the castle plug, can I use a little rtv on thread for a better seal?
