man, i knew i heard that Amsoil filters are good for 4 microns, but i couldn't find any "proof" or any literature that stated that.

Damn I'd hate to bring up an old thread up.. but i got a question.

Can't I pick up an OEM Mitsu filter at an autoparts store? Say pepboys or AutoZone?

Just wondering, it would save a 30 min drive to the nearest mitsu dealer.
i never stopped to think what filter i have. always worried about my oil, and not once did i think about the filter.

thanks guys! :)

It is not larger. The reason that I am using it is becasue of the clearence with the dp and the oil filter. the filter is smaller and fits easier than the stock. I have the hahn race craft dp.

Man... i have a Fram and it hasnt done anything bad... i havent heard any lifter tick or anything... plus it has a nice coating on it for easy removal/replacement... i crushed the one that was on it when i bought the car because nothing would stick so i had to crush it to get it off. Damn people using crappy odd lots crap. LOL. But seriously... have any of you had a problem with the new fram filters? I was told a filter is a filter... and as long as you change them with your oil everything should be fine..

I had to use the vr4 oil filer because of my downpipe. I do not know if it is hurting the car? It is smaller, but i thought that It will work because if a v6 tt can use a smaller oil filter why can't a 4cyclinder turbo use a smaller one as well. What do ypou guys think?

Waittttttt if you only have to change the oil once a year, but the filter twice, dont you still use most/all of the oil when you change the filter anyway? seems like if you were under there to change the filter, might as well put some new oil in...

I also use a fram. I've not had any problems with it. it also is very easy to remove with that coating stuff.

I had an OEM filter, thinking about going back to it now because the Fram makes my lifters tick now. Before they would only tick for about 30 seconds then stop.

High Quality article! I will definately switch from fram to bosch now. Eventhough I do change my oil every 2,500 miles.

Somebody tried arguing with me that FRAM are the best filters ever made, I let it go in one ear and out the other.

ha ha, that must be why Wal-Mart uses FRAM, you know how they are about using the best quality products!

Interesting. Although I wonder why in the Amsoil filter review the author says it's probably the best choice, but in the conclusions fails to mention it, suggesting "Mobil 1, STP/Bosch, or Japanese Honda filter."

Probably becauset he Amsoil is higher priced:confused:

you guys should try the K & N oil filters they are awesome, they cost usually the same or less than fram's top of the line and work twice as well, i don't have any special write up or anything like that but i've used them for about 5 months now and they are incredible, my oil kept it's color much better and didn't break down nearly as fast as with any other filter i've ever used.

I'll second mdre21 on th K&N oil filters. Just switched from an 89 MR2 NA to a 90 Eclipse GSX and for the 2 years I owned the MR2 I used K&N religiously w/o any probs. Color of oil after 3k miles didn't degrade much after initial change. I'm still blown away how large the Eclipse oil filter compares to the MR2s.
