I am trying to figure out if there is any part of this website that will help me tune my 1988 Starion 2.6T. If anyone knows where I can look please let me know. Or if there isn't to much on this site can someone point me in the right direction.
Thanks.

Hey JessesTalon my friend did hit a cat and messed up the frontmount but both of us are wondering who you are???
\

Just moved to Goodyear for UTI I went to the PAvillions one night and we all went to apple bees afterwords and some of the DSM guys were talking about it :) I was the one in my Subaru... my DSM is still in Oregon

I will admit, the car and engine look damn good. i wouldnt hesitate to drive it. Its probly a good built up engine now, but originally those engines were junk. I once read somewhere that they openly admitted it to be one of there worst engines.

Moved to the hangout since it's not a tech question.

I like though, I'm sure I'll probably see it one of these days.

what's so cool about it?

o wait.. i just saw the engine and turbo pictures :sneaky:

The engines are far from "junk" they have a big limitation though... but that comes with it being a SOHC engine w/TBI. Mostly, to go MPI your ordering an intake from Austrailia (TR?) if I remember correctly. Non TR Intakes are an arm, leg and both your nuts, the manifolds START at 600... and about 1200 for the MPI system... at least back when I was dealing with them.

I had two, that is why I built up a 4G63. I was in the process of swapping it in, but the only affordable trans option is to use the MM/D50 2.0 trans which are JUNK. They blow with anything above 300 at the crank. Which I was building the engine for much much more then that. I actually had the engine/trans in, all the plumbing done just doing the '63 harness work when I just gave up.
The aftermarket is virtually nil, some board members make parts and that is about it. You may still be able to find springs and other basic things... but that's about it.

I got two of them a little over 2 years ago for 2K. Neither ran, but the 87 was in good shape, and so was the 89. After 1 1/2 years of working on them I just gave up. I had had enough and wanted a car to drive that would be reliable (you think DSM's are bad... HA).
So I parted them out a few months ago, got my money and then some back. About 2500-2800 to be exact. I was happy, my wife was happier to get them out of the back yard and I was sad to see them go, but happy to get some extra cash out of them.

I really wanted to get the 89 going with the '63 though.. just for a while if nothing else... :sosad:

yah thats my buddys car!!! its so sick. he was tuning it ALL day last saturday, took chris for a lil ride to a couple local meets. people were laughing at it cuz they didnt know what it was, then he pops his hood and see that they can stick their hand in the turbo and all DAMN!!! then he goes to leave and hes revving it all weird backing out. these SRTs laugh and he pulls out n just downs it a lil bit. but he was only running 10psi cuz it has a horrible hesitation right now. he was messing with plug gap and timing forever. anyways he took off and well they shut up LOL. its so clean. hes trying to get me to buy his tan one. i thought about it but i really want a 2g awd. its for sure the nicest startion ive seen tho

Yeah, when I seen the thread title I said "Pffff, probably not as clean as Georges"...sure 'nuff, thats his car. Haha. Georges car still blows my socks off everytime I see it. I remember that night we were cruising around tweakin with minor stuff. That one SRT kid with the strong jamiacan accent was like "Let me see whatcha got dun under da hood man" ::hood pops:: "Ohhhh mudda fugga! wait wait, what does dis car look like, so i know not to fugg wit it!" :D

PSI4MyMistu, when are you gonna roll to the Pavilions, or to an In&Out meet?

Also, Jesse is my bud from up in Oregon, he just moved down here, i mentioned the cat situation to him. But he got the FMIC fixed within the week, sa'll good now :thumb:

Nice, gotta love a Starion. Hard to get parts for though. I know there is one that has been at a mechanic's shop for months trying to get parts. Guy want every little thing working perfectly: seat belts, etc..

He's being nit picky about the car, so it's gonna be there forever ;)

anyone know FOR SURE what all you need, to do the 4G swap into a starquest. im getting one soon and i have an extra 4G and it needs a home, and i would like it to be in a starion, i've heard of using the mighty max trans. but im not sure.

www.starquestclub.com

I wouldn't contact road race, I don't believe that they have done the swap. I have owned two starquests and i have looked into this a lot. It is a really good idea to do if you are willing to work through all the crap needed to get it running.

I know that there is a guy making an adapter plate for the Mark III supra trannies to bolt up to the 4g and that those trannies are extremely strong and will fit in the tranny tunnel of a starion. There is also a guy on that forum above that is making a kit to swap a 6 speeed tranny out of a LT1 camaro into a starquest, which would be really sweet with the 4g swap.

There is also a guy on the forums that has already done the swap, he calls it Project 0G or something like that. I am not for sure, I couldn't find it again. If you would like, you can e-mail me at [email protected] and I will help you out as much as possible.

i need help..... does any1 in the MD area kno of any reputable shops that kno anything about starions. if any 1 does i could really use the help :dsm:

Hey bro, I don't know of any shops for Starion/Conquest cars, but check out

TriStarion.com
Starquest.com

On one of the two or maybe both sites, there's a gentleman that goes by Shelby.
This guy has helped my brother with lots of different issues regarding his 89 Conquest TSi.

You can also PM my brother DSMDreamer on this site.

hope this helps some... :thumb: :talon:

thanks... all i need help on is the vacuum system on the car the 16g is set up wrong and i cant find any manuals for the car :dsm:

No problem bro, TriStarion has the manual on their site. :thumb:

Take care of that ride....Conquest/Starions are sexy and fast.

Straight line speed the 1988 Starion was listed in the low 16 sec range while a 1G GSX is listed in the low 15's, your results may vary.

BTW, bench racing is bad mmm kay.

Stock...not really.

Modified...ofcourse.

There are 100's of ways to make it fast. To ask if the one you are talking or thinking of (if it is not stock) is fast, is not really something a message forum baord can answer.
