I am trying to figure out if there is any part of this website that will help me tune my 1988 Starion 2.6T. If anyone knows where I can look please let me know. Or if there isn't to much on this site can someone point me in the right direction.
Thanks.

a friend of mine did a build on one 440ci dodge slightly built and a727 trans with ford 9" rear end w/411 it was stupid fast!!!! but I want to keep the handling of the car so I wanted to stay with a 4 banger that and gas milage

EDIT: we never installed the ford rear end it would not fit I don't remember if my step dad was using the stock diff or what

Just slap a "big block" in there. I'm thinking 396/427 (Chevy), Muncie 4 speed, 12 bolt rear (4:10ish). That would be the ride, all motor!

Now if the body could handle the torque, that might be another story.

we played with that "440 quest" for over a year with no problem then sold it!!
if i had to guess on a hp it was close to 400 with around 550 lbs just a guess though
wish i had some pics of that car, but this was years ago

Check the date again.
Heh. I like the FNG who told Defiant white wheels are "Gayriffic."

Me and a buddy are building one right now. Its a stock shortblock, rebuilt head with no jet valves. Custom 20g "bastard" turbo, custom intercooler piping, custom multiport injection(72lb injectors), mustang throddle body, custom intake mani, and full 3"exhaust. For EMS he has some type of standalone that came with his $2500 multiport injection kit and MSD ignition. Still has the stock FMIC but it will be good for 400whp with some injection of course.

The only problem with these cars are the jet valve heads cause the combustion chamber to wear down prematurley. Also the oil pump has trouble keeping up at any RPM above redline. They through rod bearings like crazy. A high volume oil pump we hope may help but heard it doesnt cure the problem completly.

Fantastic cars in their day as nothing could touch them on the road-race tracks, taking wins in all their respective SCCA classes. I bought a brand new one in 87, and that was my introduction into the world of turbo-s.

Good thing you got rid of that 2.6 starquest motor. The 4g63 is so much better. Me and a buddy are building his starquest and its almost done.

Have a few questions for those in the know.

#1 What are my tuning options beside safc? Megasquirt?

#2 What is the size of the turbo exhaust housing?

1988 This sounds like a cheap fun car, I would use Megasquirt

TD05-12A (8cm2 turbine housing) intercooled 4G54 2.6 litre (USA, JDM, Europe)
the TD06 (080) is bigger then the TD05 (060) you will be able to see the numbers on the side of the housing

You can run megasquirt but their whole throttle body set up sucks. Its more of a tbi set up than fuel injection I owned a 1987 conquest and the car was the biggest piece of crap to work on. The fuel system was never right and i replaced every piece of it. Even most of the fuel lines. They are very tempremental and are best left to people who have experience with them unless you are going to swap it

Iam not into signing up on another forum to ask 1 question, they never sold those cars here , so I figure the competent car guy would be able to answer them here. Thanks for the link though...

I know one problem is there 2.6L I4 turbo charged engine (if im not mistaken) drinks about as much gas as a v8...but then so do ours at WOT :/

I know there engine must not be to great because alot of them swap in 4G63's... thats about it.
