I am trying to figure out if there is any part of this website that will help me tune my 1988 Starion 2.6T. If anyone knows where I can look please let me know. Or if there isn't to much on this site can someone point me in the right direction.
Thanks.

their beautiful, i was looking at one for sale here till i saw the HUGE dent in the driver's side front fender and the sking price of $4500 :thumbdown

make sure that the rad. fan relays are good. if they go, the car will overheat, and crack the jet valves, which is a throw back to emissons experimenting from the late 70's and early 80's. that was my first turbo car and my first mitsu. i loved that car and intend on getting another one. from 1983 to 1986 1/2, they were non-intercooled at 177 h.p, while the 86 1/2 through 89 were intercooled 188 hp. not sure on the tq. though. also equipped with a g-sensor in the rear which helps control yaw if it gets sideways. the fuel injection system is primitive at best. all in all...a real fun car. :dsm:

if you think you work alot on your DSM... those things are worse then harleys...
I used to own 2 of them... Owned for less then 2 years for a reason. Damn headaches...

:barf:

i had one. do a non jet valve head 1g mass air flow sensor and 1g bov and itll be alot better. and an 89 starion or conquest ecu. i always wanted a 4g63 swapped one and think im gonna build one when im done with school and have the spare money.

These are pictures of my buddys Starion. He blew the motor up about a year ago and just got done with the rebuild and its back in the car.The motor is fully built and he changed from throttle body injection to multi port.I must say its one of the best looking motors I have seen in a while. :thumb:

Im gonna post more pics in a few days the ousides not quite done yet though. After the motors tuned and all the details get done my friends getting it painted and a custom dash.

How much did it set him back? If I'm unable to locate a decent DSM near by, there's a Starion with 90k and all the service receipts from day one. I guess it's in near mint condition. BUT..the one thing that bugged me was the understanding that their fuel system is so jacked. Seems like your friend here dealt with that.

I know the intake manifold was a expensive part but it was well worth it.It came as a kit with injectors, throttle body, fuel rail, intake manifold, and a new ECU with a hook up for a lap top to tune it.I wish I could say how much it cost but I dont know.I know my friend is more than happy with it.

That looks like the Hurricane-4 MPI system from Fuelinjection pros. I was thinking about going that route with my '88 Conquest but, decided to just add bigger injectors and an afc along with a 20g turbo. I'm parting it out now.

Im gonna post pics of the rest of the car but I dont see my friend alll the time, the car looks pretty damn good for being a 87 or 88 I cant remember.I know it needs some small stuff like the windshields cracked but its all B.S. his main concern was rebuilding the motor.

Heres what the rest of the car looks like.Like I said its not perfect but far from a shitbox.

Wow! That's a nice Starion. Is your friend a member of StarQuestClub.com? I'm a member...my boardname is FontanaTSI.

i would use larger tires, but with that engine, it wouldnt bother me....unless they were some late 90's firestone tires....LOL

No I dont think so I dont think he ever goes on any forums.

Hmm, that's too bad. It looks as though your friend knows his StarQuest's and he'd definately be an asset to the community, being one of only a handful of StarQuest owners with an MPI setup...especialy that Hurricane-4 mpi. StarQuest owners are similar to DSM owners in a sense that we don't always have the funds to mod our rides and are DIY'ers.

Its been about a year long project getting the car to this point but all in all thats not bad for all thats been done.I know he knows about and has checked out starquest but I dont think he posts or checks it out all the time.He does know his stuff with these cars though. When the motor went south last year I tried to tell him to swap in a 4g63 cause parts are more available. He really likes the motors they come with and wanted to show what you could do with one.All the starions in Arizona are beaters or at least most of the ones you see are.His is the only one thats built around here as far as I know.If you look to the side of the picture I posted you can see a tan car that car is his other Starion still stock for now so Im trying to get him to drop the 4g63 in that one.
