I am trying to figure out if there is any part of this website that will help me tune my 1988 Starion 2.6T. If anyone knows where I can look please let me know. Or if there isn't to much on this site can someone point me in the right direction.
Thanks.

i've been lookin at a few of these in my area. 2.6 liter turbo and some pretty nice body lines. i dont know much about these cars. anybody have some experience with these cars??

uh ya but im biased check out www.starquestclub.com and www.tristarion.com and www.t-racing.com and www.2.6liter.com all of these should pretty much tell you anything you want to know about the starquest dude they are rwd and so easy to drift and they have all sorts of cool shit from the factory like speed sensitive wipers!!! in 88 that was a cadillac only thing if you know what i mean but the basics are this

188hp
212lbft tq
they came with a 12a mitsu turbo on a tbi injection setup but if you put a 3" exhaust on the car it becomes apparent that a monster lives within

Good Luck

sweet pics. ya i found a nice red one in my area with a new paint job, 5 spd, turbo, and only 77000 orig. miles. hes askin 5500.

just wonderin how easy this things are to get power out of and if they are reliable. great lookin car either way!

It depends on how they are cared for they are great if you dont over rev them and as far as power...........how much money do you have??? you kinda have an idea about the price of turbos and machine work right? well the only thing you need to do aside from huge turbo and supporting mods is an mpi conversion which can be spendy but well worth it in the end and a starquest with over 400 hp is totally doable

Good luck

I don't know a whole lot about them, but my friend has picked a few up. I'm not sure what the average price is but he just paid $1,000 for a engine and $700 for a PERFECT car w/ a blown engine. I believe he paid around $1,000 for his first one too.

no idea who the guy is i havent been out to look at it yet. hes around the dfw area

Don't the cylinder heads tend to crack easily? I thought that and the crappy TBI setup were there only drawbacks.

you would be right in saying that the tbi is a drawback esp when you want to make huge power but the cyc heads being cracked is not as large of an issue and when you consider that you can get a marnal head for less than 400 bucks then there is a solution to that problem but just a reminder these cars were not made past 89 and so you are dealing with a small aftermarket when compared to what you can get for your dsm's which sucks in some ways but then again the number of starquersts on the road is alot less than the num of say the first gen eclipse not to seem negative but just as a reference these are semi rare cars. I love mine and everyone that ive talked with loves their car too they are fun and hardly anyone knows what they are....like ive heard guys tell their gf's hey check out that cool celica  or hey thats one of those rare vettes  nobody really figures it out until you tell them no its not a stupid celica its a starquest and to correct myself the vids are at www.26liter.us i messed up but if you go there check out the vid under other vids named starquest its one my cousin did up and I think it is pretty cool also check out the vid named eiptuning under other vids its awsome a 10.61 in the 1/4 thats pretty good for a 4 cylinder

anyway I hope to see you in the club

Good Luck

no these were produced befor the DSM conglomeration came about but a 1g mas will work quite well on the starquest hehe anyone have one for sale i need one

Alright, might be getting a starion, but with little to no hands on advanced mechanical experience, but 4 months without a liscense and a will to learn would it be a good idea? Good way to learn? It's waaaay cheap too, with new motor rebuild and transmission.

i believe hes asking since he has little or no mechanical experience will he be able to handle/work on a car as old as the starion.

Get some books and do your research. My friend did a Starion engine swap with little help. He just sort of dived into the project and came out with alot more knowledge. It's a cheap venture that could turn out to be great. :thumb:

I've spoken to the owner and he says everything is fine except the turbo which he'll replace, im going to get a mechanic to look at it, it's a beautiful car in my opinion. I just hope everything works out.

for any and all answers on the starion conquest

talk to a guy named kellydahman,

he sells complete hard pipes and intake pipes and a complete bolt on 3 inch exhaust ( no cat )

if the car was totally stock. just by adding the 3 inch exhaust you get 50 HP and 75 ft lbs tq. at the wheels.

If your looking to learn mechanics, check your local community collages for schools, sometimes tehy have openings and stuff that you can attend. Im still in highschool, and am in our vocational AST (automotive service and technology), our senior year, we get to goto the community collage across the street from our school, and can take classes to be certified.

If thats not going to help, research, get books from the libary, I find working on cars kind of fun, so I dont have a problem reading automotive books, and join messageboards and just read the tech forums and problem forums, you will learn what is what, etc. Just dont get too stressed out.
