Ahhh this is an amazing thread. Makes me want to whip out the ole' welder and get back into it. I love working with metal like this.

6010 Sch 40 Black Pipe
This is mine and I love it. Don't get the miller diversion 165 though. Not as good and doesn't come with the foot pedal. By the time you get it you would of been better off getting the 180 which comes with a pedal.Can someone please post a link to some of these welders you're using? Id like to start practicing but don't know what kind of welder would work.

What they have at Home Depot is usually plumbers pipe, which is brittle and weak, it will usually be painted blue on the very ends where it is cut, it is not designed to be welded.
What I am welding is carbon steel pipe, we call it black pipe because of the coating on the pipe which keeps it from rusting and corroding
This is a 5 inch exhaust vent, welded in position, out side, while snowing
