o2 housing w/ dump tube ??'s

What exactly does the dump tube do on a o2 housing dump? I was thinking of swapping out my evo o2 housing for one with a dump tube, what are the pros and cons of it. I heard it makes it louder but is it loud in a good way or loud in a ricey honda way? I saw in the product reveiw section someone had an XSpower o2 dump and i guess they said it was alright but can anyone else tell me if they are any good from XSpower and does anyone have a link for one? thanks

It dumps the exhaust gas from the wastegate passage to atmosphere, instead of recirculating it back into the exhaust system. There can be slight increase in performance, and possibly less boost creep. It's loud, there are videos in the hangout so you can get an idea of how loud they are.

It's mostly a matter of personal preference, if you want to get attention then go for it. If you want more power, you could spend money on other things that would give you more hp per doller

A dumped O2 is supposed to help fight boost creep, by making the wastegate flow less restrictive. You should also port the wastegate passage to help flow.

There will be a power gain, too, because the O2 housing itself is less restrictive (tubular). Also, you will be flowing less exhaust through the exhaust system, because the wastegate gas will be dumped to atm.

You can also get a tubular recirclated O2 housing, so you can have the benefits of the tubular housing without the noise.

Next setup will be a external WG routed into the exhaust. But its funny when some ricer revs, give them a few second headstart then get on it. Once it opens I have seen people spit their gum onto the dash, switch lanes ect.

It doesnt sound extremely loud to me or is it just muffled because its a video?

Its a poor video, when I get off of work I will attempt to find a video of one I have on my HD and host it then email you the link, The thing is GOD FORSAKING LOUD. at first its cool but after time you just get tired of it. Only good thing I have ever had come out of it was racing a SC mustang, which got walked pretty good, when we crossed this burrito place there was a cop sitting in there and he rolled out then pulled me over since I was a few cars ahead and still pulling. I pulled over thinking I was screwed. The cop ran up and said rev the engine. I did, boucning off the studder box for a second, he then said "dam pulled the wrong car". I told him the guy threw something at my car, I was just trying to get out of there. He asked if I wanted to look to make everything was okay. I agreed, to play along, he asked what the shoe polished FC678 and 12.810 was stenciled on my window. (fast compact, race number, 12.810 bracket dial in). Took a second to switch topics with out bringing more attention. Once I left I made a V line to the next gas station to wash the windows.

You guys complain too much. Its not that loud. Anyone worried about cops or the daily driveability/noise needs to relax on that gas pedal. It's only open at full boost, use some self control during daily driving and you won't know its there. And yes its a decent power gain at higher RPM, mine was seat of the pants noticable.

No, the decent power gain comes from the tubular part of the housing, not the dump part. As for helping in boost creep, if you need the o2 dump, you didn't port the turbo correctly. If you didn't port the turbine housing correct, o2 dump won't help you either. The only thing you'll gain, if you want to call it that, is noise. I use to call this a "borderline rice mod" before I became a moderator, now that I'm a moderator, I shouldn't so I won't.
