Ok guys. let me know if this sounds funny to you.

I have all the supporting mods. Im runing a DBB 50 trim @ 21 psi on 91 oct.

My timing curve is literally non-existant. from idle to 3500 rpm's im advanced no more than 5 degrees. but 4000-5000 rpm's im WAY retarded! dsmlink shows -2 degrees:notgood:

my tunner said that he had to do that to get rid of knock. i just had the motor rebuild a year ago so i know everything is good with the motor.

any ideas why "I'm retarded":confused:

Poor gas, bad tune are just a few things that can cause knock. What compression is the motor? Higher compression will cause problems on lower octane gas. What IDC are your injectors running and what AFR did he tune too?

motor is stock compression
IDC is only about 70%
AFR=11.9-1

How far off is your base timing?

I dont know that the base is.
When on dsmlink there is a check box for "2g estimates" that shows 12-14 degree advance where im at -2 degrees

That is pretty lean for 91. Try tuning it for around 10.8. Make sure base timing is at 5*BTDC

Well, I found someone else who is going to tune my car. anyone heard of GIL NAVAREZ?
If not, just type his name in the search bar. im pretty excited. He took a look at one of my dsmlink data log and said it had alot of "soft spots" and looked like the tune was strictly to get a high dyno number. no something that would give me the most power across the whole powerband. he said he could deffinitly make it run better than it is now. ill keep you posted when the new tune is in. probably the begining or middle of Jan.
